4: Life As A Kid | This is a Aborigine. The Aborigine invented the boomerangs and didjeridoo. Aborigines were the first people to live in Australia. They probably lived there for at least 40,000 years. The Aborigine had to hunt for food to live. | This is a boomerang from Australia. Aborigines invented it to have fun. The boomerang is a special type of stick and after you throw it, it comes back to you. | Researched & Written by Kate K.

5: This is a picture of cricket, a game with a ball and a bat just like baseball. Cricket is the national sport of Australia, just like baseball is the national sport of Americans. Rugby is where two teams try to catch the ball. The object is to control the ball. This game requires a lot of team effort, a lot of running and jumping.

6: Interesting Places or Things To Know | The Great Barrier Reef is a big coral reef--one of the world's largest coral reefs. It stretches 1,400 miles along Australia's northeastern coast. The reef was built by corals over thousands of years.

7: Researched & Written by Gillian | The Australian outback is bare land that covers thousands of miles. It has a mountain named Uluru and a red rock called Ayers Rock. Uluru is a sacred place for the Aborigine people and it means "many heads."

8: Land and Animals | Kangaroos are only found in Australia. The mothers have pouches. The babies are called "joeys" and they stay in their mother's pouch for 6 months. | A emu is a kind of bird. Emus live in Australia. Emus can weigh more than 100 pounds and are as tall as a human. They can't fly. | Researched & Written by Ella

9: A koala is only found in Australia. Koalas are marsupials. They carry their babies in pouches. They only eat leaves off eucalyptus trees. They rarely drink water. | The duck billed platypus has webbed feet and a beak like a duck. It is a strange looking mammal found in rivers and streams in southeastern Australia. It has fur and feed its babies milk, but it lays eggs like a snake or bird.
