FC: Abraham Lincoln By: Jamison Evans
1: Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a one room log cabin on a 348 acre farm in Hardin County Kentucky. His parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks.
2: Lincoln owned several farms and was very respected in his rural community and a Captain in the BlackHawk War.
3: Lincoln was President during the Civil War. He won the Republican nominee for President in 1860 and won the re-election in 1864.He was very famous for his inspiring speeches while President.
4: Lincoln played a huge part in the Civil War. On January 1st, 1863 he issued the Emancipation Proclamation. This declared forever free the slaves within the confederacy.
5: African Americans benefited from Lincoln because he freed the slaves and the people who weren't really benefiting from that were the plantation owners because they relied on their slaves to produce cotton.
6: If Abe Lincoln wouldn't have been around during the Civil War I think the world would be different because he made very important decisions that had to do with the Civil War's outcome.
7: Lincoln also issued the Emancipation Proclamation. This made all slaves free in the Confederacy. | Doing so is what made the south angry and they didn't want to join the Union.
8: Life would have been extremely different without Lincoln in the Civil War | Abe Lincoln played an important part to the North and they relied on his decisions. And if he wouldn't have been there during the Civil War there would probably still be slaves today.
9: Abe Lincoln is not around today because he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865 in Ford's Theatre. Because somehow Booth thought Lincoln was helping the South.
