FC: Crime Scene Investigation
1: -This picture is know as a mock crime scene. The crime scene tech sketches and takes pictures as they are investigating the house that the victim is in. After the techs are done in the house, they then compare the pictures and sketch they made to create a more up to scale crime scene picture.
3: -When communications receives a call from a citizen stating a crime has happened, they first call a patrol officer thats on duty to investigate. Once the officer arrives he determines what type of crime has occurred and if it is a homicide he calls the detectives.
5: -The police officers arrive and make a determination of what has occurred. If it is a homicide, they will call the detectives whom in turn will travel to the crime scene and talk to the officers.
7: After the officers have found a deceased body, they secure the house and call for a crime scene unit and detective. They will then start a crime scene log.
9: The officers tape off the crime scene area so that no one can enter this area and this becomes the perimeter of the overall scene.
11: A detective from criminal investigations arrives and takes over the crime scene.
13: The officers then begin to canvas the neighborhood to locate any possible witnesses after criminal investigations arrive.
15: A search warrant is applied for after securing the residence to completely process the crime scene.
17: The open window was determined to be the point of entry. This photograph is known as a long range shot.
19: As evidence is located, it is marked by cards using the number system to show where each item was found. This photograph shows an mid-range shot.
21: As this photo shows two cartridges were found close to where the body was, as are so marked by the cards. This photo is also known as a mid-range photographic shot.
23: This photograph depicts shell casings found at the scene and are marked with the numbered cards. This is know as the close-range shot.
25: This photograph depicts the overall crime scene. It shows the point of entry, where the body was found and all of the rooms in the house.
27: This is Detective Bobby Ledwell. He is showing me the drying rack where all clothing from the victim are placed so the blood can dry.
29: Detective Bobby Ledwell demonstrates the use of florescent lighting to pick up pieces of evidence unseen without the use of this instrument.
