FC: The Great Depression: It's affect on the American people and economy
1: The Great Depression was caused by : 1. Unequal distribution of wealth. 2. High tariffs and war debts. 3. Over production in industry and agriculture. 4. Stock market crash and finacial panic.
2: How long did the Great Depression last? The Great Depression took place from 1930 to 1939. That means 9 years of misery! The amount of time it took to bring the economy back around was long. That is why it is so important to everyone to try and fix the economy. Sadly, the economy will rectify itself, so the more we mess with it, the worse it gets.
3: Life during the Great Depression was hard. Everyone had no money and no jobs. food was scarce and living conditions were very unsanitary. People were standing out on the streets with signs begging for jobs so that they could earn a steady paycheck to support their family. Any food at all that could be found was probably not in the best of places, cleanest of which would be a garbage can.
4: Who did the great depression affect? The Great Depression affected just about everyone. the ones most affected were the lower and middle classes, elderly people, and blacks. Every day unemployed Americans went to the state unemployment office and lined up for jobs, as seen in the bottom right photograph above.
5: How did the great depression end? The great depression ended because of WW2. When America became involved in the war, supplies were needed in such a big order that America's industry skyrocketed, creating more jobs and more money for everyone, which started to pull us out of the Depression.
