Where I am From My life is a shackle Like desert finding rain Attached is the start of me And the future I will gain So here I begin At the origin To see What will come I must tell... Where I'm from? I'm from Barbie dolls and Britney Spears From sweet scents that follow me And happy tears I'm from sweaty summers to he chilly frost I'm from baby smiles that came at a cost I'm from playgrounds and parks I'm from straight A marks From peach and berry picking To fruity Popsicle licking
I'm from dancing designer shoes And the diary I'll never lose I'm from bright green grass I'm from 8 hours in class But most of all I'm from the care that I call I'm from hugs, kisses, and high-fives I'm from those that I love Those that touched me with their lives
My Mother's Kitchen My mother's kitchen is a home for all A place of yum, come, and call With the warm sweet smell of baked goods in the oven My sister walks in to attack what she's lovin' As the green marble of the countertop starts to shimmer The look in her eyes continue to glimmer For what mommy has made is not just a treat But something so tasty That it's hard to beat Oh what a kitchen So quaint and mellow
It's brightened by foods And the walls of light yellow And even the plant in the corner That's dead Falls happily to the ground With its dry soil bed For my mother's kitchen cannot be turned down With its tastes and great smells I'm surprised your not around
My Mommy Told Me... | Baby, because you still are my baby You've got to keep your youth And baby, because you still are my baby I've got to tell you the truth You will get old and much less wild But through it all try staying a child Mature your brain Of course that's fine However, remember you will remain mine
So baby, because you still are a baby Twirl and twirl Put on those heels and wear your Cover girl Under that makeup you're still my little girl Don't worry about life Just take the ride Eventually your youth will subside The wrinkles will come and Botox won't help So smile all you want ‘Cus at 40 You'll yelp Oh baby, you're always my baby Mommy is here Never change who you are Or I may disappear Because I am in you And you are in me As long as you're young There's that baby I see
When it comes to tough There's no harder than school But you make education cool Oh, GSMST how you make learning fun From friends to teachers, you're as bright as the sun You're a place I call home Though I’m not free to roam And a place of insight There's no wonder I’m yearning To make smarts all right You bring youth together In order to share The knowledge of great ones That's hard to compare From AP this to AP that A myriad of classes And scholars through and through GSMST gives chances Oh, yes many chances To teens like me and you The teens are wise But you are astute With colors gray and blue You're also pretty cute The goal is set up high And you reach higher everyday The county looks to you There's no other school this way Instead of sports and games You have different ways to play
Ode to GSMST | You play with books Those are mostly online You play with brains And mostly mine However, your play of choice is quick to choose You like to play with the future In order to win, not lose The list goes on and on You're truly the best that can be No wonder you frighten me GSMST you are worth the treacherous fight With all the work in class And all the homework at night You make girls wise women You make boys wise men And overall your score is 10 out of 10 So let us praise The magnificence Of such an important setting GSMST is a school I won't be forgetting
 Language Arts Limerick
There is a great study of parts Its title is of Language Arts It's from different times With verbs, adverbs, and rhymes Too bad this idea needs smarts
Oh, remember those walls I built.Well baby they're tumbling down. They didn't even put up a fight. They didn't even make a sound. It's like I've been awakened.Every rule I had you breaking. It's the risk that I'm taking.I ain't never gonna shut you out.Everywhere I'm looking now,I'm surrounded by your embrace.Baby I can see your halo. You know you're my saving grace(I'm walking on sunshine). You're everything I need and more(Whoa oh). It's written all over your face(I'm walking on sunshine).Baby I can feel your halo(Whoa oh). | Halo and Walking On Sunshine Performed by the cast of Glee | Key No device Metaphor Rhyme Onomatopoeia Hyperbole Repetition Simile | This song combines two pieces of music in expressing a woman's joy and love with a wonderful man. Her happiness is shown in the art of poetry using similes, metaphors, and hyperboles.
And don't it feel good! Halo, halo, halo.I can see your halo, halo, halo.I can feel your halo, halo, halo(I'm walking on sunshine).I can see your halo, halo, halo(Whoa). And don't it feel good! 14: This institution, perhaps one should say enterprise out of respect for which one says one need not change one's mind about a thing one has believed in, | Marriage By:Marianne Moore
requiring public promises of one's intention to fulfill a private obligation: | I wonder what Adam and Eve think of it by this time, this fire-gilt steel alive with goldenness; how bright it shows—
 Marriage Analysis
This free verse poem expresses the poet's belief on what marriage has become in her time as compared to that of Adam and Eve. By doing so, the poet presents marriage as a full commitment where both partners are publicly stating that they will stay together for as long as they live. While it has no rhyme scheme, the poem does use metaphors such as enterprise and fire gilt steel to represent marriage.
 Dedication Page
I would like to dedicate this book to all my family, friends, and the wonderful members of GSMST. Most importantly, though, I would like to dedicate this book to my magnificent teacher, Ms. Glenn, for providing her students with an amazing challenge in the study of poetry.
