1: American authors have helped to shape the minds of many through their vivid details and meticulous writings.

2: F. Scott Fitzgerald epitomized "The Jazz Age" through his stories and novels that dealt with youth and love.

3: One of my favorite novels, The Great Gatsby, centers around Jay Gatsby, a wealthy and lavish man, who throws many outrageous parties in hopes of reeling in a particular lady. | This novels shows life in post WW1 following prohibition and the rise in the economy.

4: J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series took the world by storm after being first published in 1997.

5: Rowling's seven part novels about Harry Potter and his magical world have captivated a spectrums of ages throughout the world. Starting off as a struggling mother, she wrote her first fantasy novel in many cafes in England. Her success over the years has made her the highest earning novelist in history. Her stories will continue to amaze readers even after her time.

6: A timeless novel about growing up, Harper Lee encorporates her own experiences and creates a Pulitzer-prize winner.

7: Everybody can relate to growing up and trying to understand the ever changing world. Scout and Jem Finch are trying to do just that.

8: 451 degree is all you need to rid the world of knowledge.

9: Ray Bradbury's most famous novel Fahrenheit 451 challenged many, including churches and the state. His novel pushed the limits and showed an extreme of what the world could be like in a utopian society where knowledge and reading were suppressed.

10: Holden Caulfield is your typical rebellious teenager, who is just trying to find his path in life.

11: J.D. Salinger's most famous novel took critics by storm due to its crude nature. However, A Catcher in the Rye proved to be a big success and after being banned in several countries, is widely read and acknowledged as a great piece of literature.

17: Though ficticious, Steinbeck's most popular novel Grapes of Wrath, showed American hardships across California and other parts of the nation. His writing was drawn from what he saw while being a reporter during this hard time.

18: Willa Cather's three most famous novels surrounded around the themes of life on the frontier.

20: Richard Wright, in his autobiographical novel, depicts his childhood and life, and the racism and poverty that he had to endure.
