3: Novak Djokovic was born May 22,1987 in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia. His mother is Dijana and his father is Srdan. Novak has two younger brothers, Marko and Dorde. They also share the same interest in tennis. Novak began playing tennis at the age of 4.
4: In the summer of 1993 at the age of six, he was spotted by tennis legend Jelena Gencic. Jelena was quoted saying that " This is the greatest talent I have seen since Monica Seles." Jelena then worked with Djokovic over the six years before realizing his rapid development. Jelena contacted Nikola Pilic to mentor Novak Djokovic .
7: When Novak was 14, he began his international career, winning European championships in singles, doubles, and team competition. In 2006 Novak considered to move from Serbia to play for Britain. Then in 2007 Djokovic defeated Australian Chris Guccione, before losing in the fourth round to Roger Federer. Later that year he received a golden badge award for the best athlete in Serbia and the Olympic Committee of Serbia declared him the best athlete.
9: In the beginning of 2008, Djokovic played the Hopman Cup with Jelena Jakovic. They won all there round-robin matches, the team lost 1-2 in the final to the American team. Djokvocic defeated Davydenko again to win his first Tennis Masters Cup title. At the end of 2009 he was ranked as the world number 3, for the third consecutive year.
10: Final in 2011 Djokvic won ten tournaments. He also set a new record for the most prize money won in a single season on the ATP World Tour. Djokovi finished the season with a 70-6 record and number 1 in the world. Now only time will tell how long Novak Djokvic stays at number 1.
