FC: Poetry | This is my poetry packet | English 6 Joao Pereira
 2-3 - "A rainy day" and "after a rainy day" 4-5 - "The lost ant" and "The magic" 6-7 - "The Dove" 8-9 - "The imagination Land" 10-11 - "The little boy" 12-13 - " Japanese Earthquake" 14 - "A little about me" | Table of contents | Pages:
A rainy day | In a rainy day I just stand in my house and I look out of the window and stare at the beautiful raindrops and appreciate the marvellous sound of raindrops like a waterfall. sometimes in a weather like this I also like to go outside and feel the raindrops falling all over me as the gray sky turns blue | After a rainy day
After a rainy day I get out of my house feel the fresh and humid air smell the the wet green grass a few drops are falling from a tree they are all falling on me! but I don't care if I get wet I don't care if my parents get upset at that time I stop thinking thinking bout everything I stop thinking I only feel the fresh, cool air so fresh and calming and just stop everything and stare as the sky from its dull gray goes to a magnificent blue. | In these two poems I used some poetic devices like simile, which compares two things using as or like so I compared raindrops with a waterfall. I also used rhymes like "upset" and "wet", "tree" and "me" and "air" and "stare" I wrote these poems when it was raining outside and also right after it stopped raining. That makes me feel peaceful because it calms me down when I'm reading it, when I'm picturing it happening It feels to nice and calm.
Haikus | The magic as I ride my bus Magic is all around us truly amazing | The lost ant It silently cried Away from its family still walked with its pride
These two poems have some poetic devices like rhyme, which means that a pattern of words that contain similar sounds in the end of the line, I rhymed "bus" with "us" and "pride" and "cried". I think really did well on those two poems because even if it doesn't have many poetic devices, it sounds nice to read it out loud.
The Dove | Peace would be the dove flapping its wings around peacefully everyone looking as it seeks for a a good place to stay as its pureness is transmitted into the air When the dove is around no one fights no one robs they all stop and stare at the magical dove as its pureness is transmitted into the air If the dove stares at someone that someone smiles staring at its majestic feathers its precious feather as it has so many to spare some of them fall as its pureness is transmitted
This poem has some poetic devices, like rhymes which means that a pattern of words that contain similar sounds in the end of the line, so I rhymed "stop" with "robs", "stare" with "air" and "spare" with "air" a poetic device that also used is that in the end of every stanza, I used the same words which is called repetition. In my opinion, I think this is a very good poem. I also used symbol which means that I used a word that represents more than it means. This poem is a extended metaphor because for the whole poem it only compares the dove with peace.
The imagination land | Little Tommy cried "fear not my boy I'll always be by your side" Tommy's dad last words before they took him away. Mommy held him tightly "worry not son you may feel it now but soon it all will be gone" a kiss from his beloved mom was his last memory of a happy family. He woke up somewhere different he thought about going back but couldn't stop looking magical creatures pretty animals from fairy tales colorful trees and rainbows. He wanted to go home he may like the place but his mom was a precious thing to him more than anything.
a unicorn passes by "What do you seek child?" "A way home I miss mom" he panicked suddenly fainted. He woke up in bed it was all a dream or was it? a question on the loose was it or wasn't it? you the public get to choose. | In this poem I used lots of rhymes, which are words at the end of each line that sound similar, I rhymed "cried" with "side" and "loose" and "choose". I also used lots of different orders of words so it would sound better.
The little boy | When me, the little boy was born I wore the clothes my older brother had worn my mother held me with a lot of love compared to everyone, they thought I'd be above When my mommy went to work I felt like my heart was about to burst I stayed in bed and tried to sleep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep 123,123 When I saw my mom I told her to come I on put on a smile we hugged for a while When mommy went to work I felt like my heart was about to burst I stayed in bed and tried to sleep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep 123,123
I remember a day When daddy was going away I begged him to stay But he left me With only my mom and brother When my mommy went to work I felt like my heart was about to burst I stayed in bed and tried to sleep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep 123,123 I remember a day that my mom was away my brother told me "We've got to be what we want to be" and he left me When my mommy went to work I felt like my heart was about to burst I stayed in bed and tried to sleep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep 123,123
When I was twenty two my mother had the flu I was homeless and hungry I felt myself being pulled away then my childhood came back to me And I remembered... When my mommy went to work I felt like my heart was about to burst I stayed in bed and tried to sleep I tried to get sleepy by counting sheep 123,123... | In this ballad I used lots of different poetic devices like end rhymes, which are words in the end of the lines that sound similar. I also used two rhyme schemes for almost the whole poem, AABB or ABAC. I also used a poetic device called enjabement which is poetic device that allows someone to go to another line in a poem without any punctuation. I also used repetition which means that I repeated a word, line or in my case, a whole stanza.
Japanese earthquake | The kids are in school The parents at work then they hear a noise like lots of angry bulls They all came out they hugged they cried out loud we heard The earth shaked Many things were broken apart but nothing was worse then their broken hearts They all came out they hugged they cried out loud we heard
The things that fell made a loud bang The things that broke made a crash as if a it was a dragon with a huge fang which teared them apart They all came out they hugged they cried out loud we heard It was coming quickly and powerfully The huge wave some screamed dreadfully their last words They all came out they hugged they cried out loud we heard
