"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." Dr. Seuss

Table of Contents I Am From Poem pg. 4-5 I Am... Poem pg. 6-7 My Mother's Kitchen pg. 8-9 Language Arts pg. 10-11

I am from, From the bottles of Fruti mango juice and Apple, I am from the packed streets of India, To the mango sunsets along the horizon. I am from the smells of spices cooking in the kitchen, From the sweet taste of the fruits from the garden. From the home that keeps me who I am. | "I Am From" | I am from lighting fireworks on Diwali, I am from black hair and eyeglasses, I am from the Saravanabhavans, Who I am. I am from the tendency to get straight A’s, And I am from the “Keep on trying”s to the “Do your best”s. I am from family I love. I am from Kirshna and Shiva, From Karma to Dharma, I am from praying every morning Before I eat. I am from the ways of my religion and the things I believe.

I am from India, The place that took care of me for five years, The land where I enjoyed the times visited relatives, Now, I’m from the times I visit the land that provided me a home. I am from the numerous pictures in the attic, From the digital copies on the computer, I am from the memories that make me who I am.

 I Am...

Sometimes I wonder who I am, Sometimes I understand. Sometimes I think of ways to fit in, Sometimes I’m in the right place. Depending on my thoughts, I might even sigh it off. It really just depends on who I really am. I’m not the best athlete. And I ain’t always on the beat. But I learned that who I am, Will always make me great. Because I am eccentric, I will one day be gnostic. My worth is not determined by the things I do, Or the clothes I wear. No matter what people see of me, I will always be the free, Bharathi Saravanabhavan.

The kitchen, Is it just a place of work or a place of love? Every day, my sister walks in wondering, What other work do I have to do today? The oven steaming with the pizza, We’re ready to eat, The dishes ready to be washed. At this sight of this, my sister wonders, Is this what I am put up for, washing dishes? | My Mother's Kitchen

The kitchen, Is it a place to work or a place of love? I know, The kitchen is what brings us together. The kitchen is the life to the home. | On the sill, She sees a dead fly, covered with the green slime, Of the dish detergent, She wonders, What can happen worse? The dishes need to be washed, Sister whining about the job, The great smell of the spices on the stove, I wonder, What makes this kitchen so great?

What makes language arts a special class? Is it that it contrasts, Or that is achieves what I want, And we jaunt, In books that only we know. Language arts is what makes a day, To be given a time to say, With the discussions of the day. It is a time to speak. Is this what makes language arts so special? No, it is because it is ductile, Making it a class worth learning, Making me beaming, The rest of the day. | Language Arts
