1: The Gupta Empire lasted from 320 to 535 AD. Inia experienced a "Golden Age" under the Gupta's rule. The Gupta's expanded their rule over much of northern India and brought peace and prosperity to the land.
2: Chandragupta founded the Gupta Dynasty and established his capitol in Pataliputra. He expanded and built up his new empire. Some called him Maharadhiraj, which meant king of kings. He reigned from 319 - 335 AD.
3: The Gupta Empire boundaries were the Himamalayn Mountains, Bay of Bengals, Arabian Sea, and all the way down to Pallava.
4: Under the Guptan rule the Arts, Literature, and mathematics blossomed. Early Artists painted murals on the walls of caves. They painted scenes from the life of Buddha and ancient Indian Legends. | The Gupta's developed fine poetry and dramas. Kalidasa was one of the best-known poets/playwright. His play "Shakuntala" is about a daughter of a river goddess who falls in love with a king. | Indian Scholars produced the concept of zero. They also invented the decimal system. They figured out the correct shape and ize of the earth. They eventually replaced Roman numerals with Arabic numerals.
