S: Seasons of Change
FC: of change | Dylan's Rocket Mixbook Project
1: Our problem was to build a rocket that flew highest and dissolved the alka-seltzer tablet fastest. I learned that a sharp tip makes good aerodynamics for the rocket, wings give it balance and spin. We did three experiments about the what temperature dissolves the fastest, which solvent works the best, and what type of alka seltzer would dissolve/explode faster.
2: Imagine We brainstormed what our rocket would look like and we researched about it. All of us chose a sharp tip because it would let wind fly by faster. We also wanted wings because wings would give it good balance and spin in the air.
3: Plan When our group planned, we looked at each of our designs and thought about what design was the best. If we couldn't pick, we fused some of the ideas together to get an even better one.
4: Design Our first design was a short, heavy rocket. It failed because we put too much cardboard on it which made it too heavy. The one whole alka-seltzer tablet wasn't enough to launch our heavy rocket.
5: Improve Our improved rocket went a lot higher than our first rocket because we made a sleeker body and a sharper tip. We only used construction paper in it instead of cardboard, so our ship was way lighter.
6: Share Before we tested our rockets, we told everyone what materials we used to build our rocket, what size tablet we were going to use, and what solvent we were going to use.
