FC: Room 412 today | Examples of parallel line proofs and parallelogram proofs! | How we got the Pythagorean theorem we know and love. | What are parallel lines? More inside

Parallel lines are 2 lines that never cross, they have the same slope and are seen in everyday life.

You just can't say that two line are parallel because they look like they are, you have to state reasons why and show how, using angels you can see. some are vertical angels and corresponding angels.

In this large square there are 4 right triangles and a smaller square. This square can give use the Pythagorean theorem. | 4(axb/2)+ (a-b)(a-b)= cxc (4 triangles + the smaller square= the larger square) simplifying it gives us 2ab+ a^2- 2ab+ b^2= c^2 combining like terms cancels out the 2ab and -2ab leaving us a^2+ b^2= c^2

Statement 1: Reason for statement 1: Given. Statement 2: Reason for statement 2: Given. Statement 3: Reason for statement 3: If two angles are supplementary to two other congruent angles, then they’re congruent. Statement 4: Reason for statement 4: Reflexive Property. Statement 5: Reason for statement 5: AAS (3, 1, 4) Statement 6: Reason for statement 6: CPCTC (Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent). Statement 7: Reason for statement 7: CPCTC. Statement 8: Reason for statement 8: If both pairs of opposite sides of a quadrilateral are congruent, then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram | Need help finding those pesky angles? Well we're here to help! The new Schneider protractor can find any angle, guaranteed.

TWO HONORS MATH TEENS MAKE AMAZING DISCOVERY ALREADY FOUND!!!!!!!! | When interviewed about their discovery, Brian Warecki and Gregory Schneider had to say this. "...so we were walking home from school, when we came across some railroad tracks, so we followed them until we saw where the track comes out to make the train switch tracks. Brian leaned over to me and said" "Hey remember how Ms. Salke taught us about transversal's, this is one!"

So Brian and Greg told their teacher and she said, "Wow! This is so true, we should tell the world!" So off they went to go tell the board of math directors in their school about this and he said " Wow! Lets tell everyone!" So off they went to the Internet to tell everyone to only be let down by a 10 year old saying "Yeah, no duh, who didn't know that."
