1: McDonalds was founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald. Today it is the most successful fast food restaurant chain in the world.
2: This is Joe DiManggio, a very famous and successful baseball player in the 1930s to the early 50s. Joe won 9 world series', one of which was in 1949
3: This is a picture of one of the first televisions. It was invented in 1950.
4: This is Joe McCarthy(left). He led the military in Korea in 1950.
5: The Catcher in The Rye was published in 1951, intended for adults. However, it is popular among adolescence and serves as a symbol of rebellion.
6: This is "Sugar" Ray Robinson. At the hight of his career, in 1951, he had 84 knockouts and 128 victories.
7: This is the outcome of a hydrogen bomb. Unlike other bombs, it is filled with hydrogen and causes significantly more damage. It was invented in 1951
8: Invented in 1952, the vaccine greatly reduced the threat of disease. Vaccines helped the body build up a resistance to diseases and saved countless lives.
9: This is Josef Stalin. He was the leader of the Soviet Union. He became leader after the Russian revolution in 1953 and led Russia during the Cold War.
10: This is Albert Einstein. He was a German scientist that helped invent the nuclear bomb. He died in a prinseton hospital in 1955 when he was 76.
11: This is Elvis Presley. Nicknamed "The King of Rock" because he was one of the first people to write and play rock and roll music.
12: The Hungarian Revolution took place in 1956. It was a nationwide revolt of The People's Republic of Hungary.
13: This is sputnick. It was the first satellite launched into Earth's orbit by the Soviet Union in 1957.
14: This is Charles Starkweather. in 1958 he went on an 8 person killing spree.
15: Thalidomide was a sedative released in the 1950s. But when pregnant women took the drug it caused birth defects such as phocomilia, which causes limb mutation.
16: This is Buddy Holly, a Famous musician. In 1959 he died in a plane crash.
17: This is a picture of a monkey the united states sent into space. They sent monkeys in 1959 because they didn't know what would happen so they used monkeys as guinea pigs.

21: The Bay of Pigs Invasion was and unsuccessful attempt by the CIA to invade southern Cuba in 1961. The operation was attempted by Cuban exiles recruited by the CIA.
22: This is John F. Kennedy He was elected president in 1960 and his term ended when he was assassinated in 1963.
23: This is a picture of former president John F. Kennedy. In 1963 he was assassinated during a parade. Since then, all presidents have ridden in nonconvertable cars with bullet proof windows.
24: Martin Luther Jr. king led the civil rights act of 1964, greatly helping eliminate segregation in America. He was born on January 18th,1929, and was assassinated on April 4th,1968
25: This is Apollo 11. It and it's crew were the first people to successfully land on the moon. It had missions from 1969 to 1972.

27: Woodstock was a festival where famous musicians would gather and play for huge audiences. The first Woodstock was held in 1969 and included The Who, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

29: This is the AIDS symbol. AIDS first started infecting Americans in 1981. AIDS is a disease that weakens the immune system, making it easier to catch other diseases.
30: Crack cocaine, nicknamed crack was a popular drug in 1984 and 1985. In 1984-85, crack cocaine could be most commonly found in poor areas in New York, Los Angles, and Miami.
