S: Life of an Inca

BC: Marcelo Pomiecko | Mr. Telli | Period 6

FC: The life of an Inca | By: Marcelo Pomiecko

1: I have been able to take the ranks of an Inca warrior. Its been hard since the civil war between Huascar and Atahualpa. My family is proud for me protecting the empire. Everything has been smoothly lately under Atahualpa's rule. All i can hope is that it stays this way. I have training in a few minutes because I have a shift to take care of llamas from thieves. | May 2, 1531

2: May 5, 1531 | My shift over the llamas went well. Llamas are the only animals we have because, people say that they help all of our needs. That is why they are so important to us. There were no thieves after all. Even though everything is going smoothly I saw one of our messengers or chasquis arriving at our settlement. It must of been important because he looked a little frightened. But, I am not too worried about it. I have to go now and help my family on the farm.

3: May 10, 1531 | Last night, while I was walking to my house, I overheard the villagers talking about a rumor of a few gods coming to our settlement. today, the kings said that he is not so sure these people are gods, so some people are frightened. But, when I was going to the military base, i heard a trader saying that he gave them food and gifts. He also said how they did not speak, and just took the goods and left. He also said that he saw their leader. He looked a little old but brave. Then, he described how they looked. I just hope that we make a good relationship with them, if they ever happen to meet us.

4: May 11, 1531 | This morning, I saw strange people from the distance waking towards us. I though it was a few of our messengers, but they looked different with pots on their heads. Right after that one of my military companions tell me to arm myself and prepare. I asked them for what, but he just said "Atahualpa's orders", so I did as he asked. When they came, it looked like they were astonished from our city, about how big it is, and as they came past us, all they did was stare.

5: May 12, 1531 | Today, everyone has been telling me that we are going to war with these gods. I asked them what kind of spear should I bring. They told me just a basic one because Atahualpa said we just need to scare them off. So, right now I am polishing my spear. I am very sacred to fight, but all this training they gave me will help. I hope what Atahualpa is planning will work because I am not ready to die. But if it is for the Inca empire I shall die for it. This might be me last journal writing, but if all goes well I will celebrate.
