BC: Samantha Coulter Period 7

My father has just died. He was Huayna Capac and he was the leader of the Inca. I fear the community will perish along with him for his qualities and duties formed the structure of our empire. My brother, Atahuapla, and I, Huascar, are quarreling and fighting to replace our father's role in the society. Atahuapla is robust, dedicated, and intelligent, but I am nothing less. | Jan 1520

As I have earlier predicted, a civil war has started because of my father's death. My brother and I are on opposing sides of the war. The battle is for the next Inca ruler for my father did not choose an heir for the throne. I anticipated that Atahuapla will show the slightest fragment of mercy because of our relation, but his actions earlier in this war has proved me fallacious. I believe I am highly qualified as the ruler of the Inca. | Feb 1522

The war between Atahuapla and I has ended today. My brother has succeeded in our battle and is to be crowned. I am currently walking in the parade-like line to celebrate Atahuapla's success. One of my brother's servants is whispering to him suspiciously and I plan to sneak closer to find what they are whispering about. | Feb 1532

I've just snuck a few feet from my brother. His servant has whispered that the Spanish have entered the empire. Atahuapla was not panicking for our empire had a population of millions. When I heard the information, I secretly hid in a cranny of a nearby temple. I now see an army of about 180 darting down the hillside. I hope their leader, Pizzaro, has the humanity to spare our community. | Feb 1532

Francisco Pizzaro and his army have decided to attack. His fellow conquistadors are slaughtering numerous innocent civilians in front of me this minute. Being hidden in the temple's depths, the Spanish soldiers have not discovered my presence yet. I pray they never do. | Apr 1532

My brother is being captured. A few of the Spanish conquistadors have stolen him off of his human carriage and are scurrying away with him. I am pondering about attempting to find and rescue him, but cannot seem to find the courage for the unsuccessful battling in front of me is very discouraging. | May 1533

Atahuapla has just announced that the Inca are to fill a room with gold and silver for Pizzaro in order to win his freedom. I suppose the distraction of melting gold may provide an opportunity for my to recover my brother. I've decided to swiftly hasten towards the building where Atahuapla has been trapped and surreptitiously save him. | Feb 1534

I have just overheard that Pizzaro has murdered my brother. The conquistadors believed that if they let him live, he might rally the Inca people and defeat the small Spanish army. Words cannot explain my sorrow for I am utterly disturbed. I've decided to surrender myself to the Spanish war forces for their is only a small portion of the Inca civilization left and is literally no hope for us at all. Death is the last enemy, once we get past it I suppose everything will be alright. | May 1535
