Table of Contents P.3 Flight 93 Memorial P.4 San Diego Blackout P.10 Student Bullied by Teacher

On September 11, 2001 a plane crashed into a field. This was Flight 93 and about 40 citizens gave their lives to protect the idea and symbol of freedom. Now 10 years later they were given a Memorial at the nation's newest national park. 40 slabs of marble each with a name inscribes on it of the passengers and crew on that fateful flight. Former President Clinton and Bush were there along with Vice President Biden to unveil the memorial to the families of the Heroes and other fellow Americans. They saw more than a attack. They saw the start of a war. It is important to remember for it changed the course of history and showed us that heroes are not just in comic books but in every one. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/09/10/crowds-deal-with-mud-security-at-flight-3-site/

This article is related to sociology because it had a great impact on our country. We were under attack by terrorist and instead of the passengers letting them reach the white house they fought back. And we honored them for their bravery. I was very touched by this article because people died to protect the ideas of this country and they were being honored for it. i rank this memorial as touching as the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers.

San Diego Blackout September 8, 2011 on a hot Thursday afternoon the power went out. Not extremely unusual but as the minutes went by and the power remained off uneasiness set in. Using the Internet on phones people realized it wasn't just where they lived it was the whole county. Listening to radios in cars, solar powered or hand cranked people realized no one new how long it would last. People rushed to the stores to buy non perishables. Some people panicked but with reassurance that the power would be back on no later than Friday afternoon people began to relax and talked to others that they might have ignored before and enjoyed the stars that they usually didn't notice.

Because society depends on electricity for almost every thing, going with out it for as long as we did was out of the norm. We had no idea how to react and started to panic. I thought this article was interesting because I got to see how different people through out the county reacted.

 Student Bullied by Teacher

In Columbus, Ohio a 14 year old student was bullied by her teacher and school aid. Her mother and her mothers boyfriend had hid a recorder on her person when school officials rejected their claim. In the recording the teacher calls her a liar and refused to grade her test because she said she already knew that she failed it. When School officials listened to the hours of tape they were shocked by what they heard on the tape. The superintendent finally acknowledged there was a problem and sincerely apologized to the family and will try and make sure that it will not happen again in the future.

This article is related to sociology because bullying is not a hugely uncommon thing. But while we hear about students bullying other students we don't hear very often about teachers bullying their students when teachers are to stop bullying. I am disgusted because teachers are suppose to be our mentors and some are bulling their students. This article and others that have recently been published are starting to put to light that select people who are suppose to be educating our youth are mistreating them.
