FC: Stress and You
1: “In times of great stress or adversity, it's always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.” | Stress - Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences.
2: There are three kinds of stress: actue, episodic, and chronic. Each level of stress is caused by different things and can affect different parts of our bodies. | Acute stress is the most common of all the different kinds of stress. Acute stress is what we feel when we have a deadline to meet, or the kids get into a little trouble at school. | Acute stress -----> | Symptoms of actue stress include: emotional distress, anger, anxiety, heart burn, aches and pains, and increase in blood pressure.
5: Episodic acute stress is just acute stress that is fequent with a person. This form of stress is typically caused by excessive worrying and simply because they try to take on too many tasks. | Symptoms of episodic acute stress include: persistent tension headaches, migraines, hypertension, and heart disease. | Episodic acute stress is more difficult to treat than acute stress.
6: Stress should be temperary.
7: Chronic stress damages bodies, minds, and emotions. | Chronic stress is caused by poverty, dysfunctional family-life, and unhappy relationships. This is the type of stress that is felt by people living in war-torn countries. | Chronic stress can lead to suicide, violence, heart attacks, and even cancer. | Chronic Stress wears you out mentally and physically and it takes commitment and hard work to recover from it.
