As his would-be girlfriend Rachel and his best friend, Angel, mourn his passing, Chuy's murderer, who he calls Yellow Shoes, shows no remorse at all as he toss his knife

5: into a dumpster. Then Chuy meets Crystal, another ghost, and teaches her the ropes of getting around in her non body, falling in love in the process. He saves an homeless man, only to befriend him when he dies later anyway. As Chuy slowly disappears into the unknown, he draws some conclusions about life, death, and the afterlife.

6: Main Characters Jesus- He was named after his father, whose own father was Maria Jesus. He was born in the 1940s in Jalisco,Mexico. He ran cross-country and ate his lunch with his friends, which those same friends were all average looking like him. He is sensitive to others' feelings. He has a strong sense of humor ,but gentle sense of humor also.

7: Crystal- She was from Selma, a town outside of Fresno. She was seventeen, a senior in high school and vice president of the school. She was even a cheerleader and ran track. She lived on a farm in Selma where Chuy used to pick grapes for her father.

8: The internal conflict was between him and his thoughts. He would usually follow his thought to do something, but sometimes his thoughts gets him in trouble or saves someone. He tried to stop his mother from trying to get his uncle, who was few year older than him to kill the man who killed Chuy. The external conflict was between Crystal's two boyfriends Jason and Eric. They were fighting because they didn't know where Crystal was. So they were fighting until someone tried to break it up. Crystal let her thoughts and feelings get to her so she had took some pills like they were mints. She only did that because she had two boyfriends who she didn't know who was going to be her only real boyfriend.

9: The internal conflict got him killed just because he told a man he liked his shoes. He saves an old man who was homeless form a deadly fever. The conflict resolution was that the man who killed Chuy wasn't killed by his uncle. In fact, he didn't get killed by anyone. Jason and Eric ended up going to the hospital to get stitches and cast for their broken bones and other stuff. That resolve to her commending suicide.

His sympathetic and often humorous juvenile books include Baseball in April and Other Stories and the novel TakingSides. Soto , a professor of creative writing at the University of California, Riverside, travels widely to schools in California and the Southwest to promote reading and meeting young readers.

11: I think this was a good novel about someone dying and come back to touch people he knows or don't know. It was a good thing that he meets another ghost, but it was a girl. He showed her even though they are ghost nothing can hurt her. The bad thing about it is she had two boyfriends who had a fight about where she was because they didn't know. Chuy mother tried to get his uncle who was only a few years older than Chuy to kill the man who killed Chuy.
