2: The Pearl is an enduring and classic fable, sensitively told, in simple and beautiful language. It is the story of a fisherman who found a pearl beyond price, the Pearl of the World.
3: With the pearl, he hoped to buy peace and happiness for himself, his wife and their little son. Instead he found that peace and happiness are not to be purchased. They are, themselves, pearls beyond price.
10: Chapter.1 Summary Kino and his wife Juana live in a brush house. They have a little baby boy named Coyotito. Coyotito gets stung by a scorpion and they half to take him to the doctor. When they arrive, the servant tells the doctor about the patient. The doctor will not see Coyotito unless they give him money.
11: Chapter 2 Summary Kino found the pearl of the world, then the doctor wanted to see Coyotitio but poisoned him so he could sound smart, and to trick everyone.
12: Chapter 3 Summary
13: Chapter 4 Summary Kino was looking into the pearl and he saw him and Juana getting married in new cloths, Coyotito reading, and him with a rifle. All these things are things Kino wanted when he sold the pearl.

15: Chapter 6 Summary Coyotito got killed by the trackers, and Kino throws the pearl back into the ocean.

19: About the Author John Steinbeck He was born in Salina's California in 1902. He wrote many books. In 1962 he became the sixth American to win a Nobel prize for literature. He died on December of 1968 in New York City.
