FC: THE TRUTH | of SOCRATES | By: Noelle Haller
Truth, a calling to Socrates, did not let anyone to stand in the way to keep him from carrying out his responsibility.
Always butting heads with his fellow Athenians, philosophically, morally, intellectually, and through political beliefs. | He was DEDICATED to the pursuit of truth, explaining calling everything to question and accepting nothing but the best nature of things,
He stated that people who see with their eyes are all but blind, and believed that truth is invisible. He proposed that knowledge is not gained from instruction and study, but from inspired bestowal.
Socrates never claimed what the truth was, instead he QUESTIONED students leading them to discover the truth in themselves.
He also had a way of making people THINK by themselves, finding the truth through different directions and angles. He never had to directly tell them, with them coming to the knowledge themselves.
Socrates wanted the people of the polis to contemplate the real NATURE of life and of truth.
"virtue was the most valuable of all possessions; the ideal life was spent in search of the Good. Truth lies beneath the SHADOWS of existence, and that it is the job of the philosopher to show the rest how little they really know." -Socrates
"If you take my advice, you will give but little thought to Socrates but much more to the truth.”- Socrates
He believed in the immortality of the soul, and once he was convicted to the gods for ridicule, he was questioning man's belief that having good education makes for good citizens.
