  • On Wednesday, January 13th, the fifth graders of Van Cortlandtville Elementary School took part in their Annual Governmental Tea. This year the students took on the personas of historical government figures ranging from Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. In addition to parents and grandparents, the guests this year once again included NY State Senator Vincent Leibell and Town of Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi. Lakeland Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lois Favre along with Director of Human Resources Tammy Cosgrove were also in attendance. Finally, Lakeland Board of Education President Liz Kogler also attended. Everyone who attended enjoyed the experience, a cup of tea and some butter cookies as they conversed with the many historical American figures that were there. We are all very grateful to the students for their hard work, the PTA and parent volunteers who assisted us with this event.less
