4: WW2 was started by Germany in 1939. Hilter invaded Poland.
6: The reason for going to war against the Germany, Japan and Italy. In March 1940: the Lend-Lease act was passed stating Roosevelt could direct aid to whomever he wanted. This meant that the US was no longer neutral.
7: The US ended up contributing 42 billion dollars to the war effort by 1945. With Hitler taking over Europe, FDR saw fit to aid the British and French troops with arms, etc.
8: This war, while not unexpected, was not the war the US wanted to be in because it was felt that Germany was the greater threat. Hitler didn't declare war against the U.S. until December 11, 1941.
9: The United States declared war on the Axis powers on December 8, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese It all starts many years before Pearl Harbor was bombed.

16: World War 2 help end the Great Depression because The New Deal helped reduce many harsh aspects of the Great Depression but it was World War II that made the real difference. As European nations went to war American factories began to make war goods to sell to nations like Britain.
17: After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor over ten million American men went into the service in one way or another. This opened up a huge demand for workers to supply them and the Depression was over. After the war most of the rest of the world was in ruins and the American economy set the pace for the rest of the world.
