BC: FREE AT LAST IN AMERICA!
FC: Land of the free!
1: Dear Diary, Today I am packing up for the big trip to my new home America. Father would repeat to me Aleka we are going to heaven , to god's hand, to be free! I hope so! | Poland's Flag | My father's passport.
2: July 8th Today we left Poland and I am so sad because I am leaving all my stuff behind like my cat and all my blankets from when I was a baby. Mother said that we were only aloud to bring one bag with us. First we took a train to get to the ship that is going to take us to America! Since we were very low class we had to stay in the back were all the bags are kept. My dad was on look out because he didn’t want the people to see that we were there, we were hiding. Finely we got of the train and loaded up into the ship. In the ship I was sharing a bed with my older sister.I could very tell that we were very low class at that age because were we were sleeping the porthole to look out to the ocean was actually looking into the ocean it was under water. We were in the basement.

4: There were so many immigrants coming to America that I had to go up to the deck to get some room for myself. I was up on the deck all the time in harsh weather and in good weather too. My Father would call me “ Aleka come into the room because you will get sick!” I was seasick after two weeks, but the trip lasted a month. July 28th Today I got of the boat I was pushed all over and fell at least twice. I thought that the trip would last a lot longer but it lasted a lot shorter. We had to go take a ferry so that it would take us to the main building of Ellis Island. I never thought that I would see my father cry, but I did and I knew that he was really happy because we were finely free!

6: I started to cry too because I thought of all the horrible things that happened to was in Poland. We could be free for the first time. First we had to go through the luggage room and sat down only a few bags. Then the first challenge began we had to walk up the grand hall stair way and some were in the hassle I lost my bracelet that my father gave me for my birthday. Doctors were checking our every move while we walked up the steps. Some people had to sit down on the steps to catch their breath. After that doctors checked us to see if we had any kind of sickness with us. Since I was on the deck all the time I caught a cold. My family went on with my uncle to America. I had to stay behind. One whole week I stayed there I was sick and tiered I had great company I met some girls from Poland too.
8: August 2nd The doctors are finely going to let me go see my brothers and sisters and my Father and Mother. I finely am free in America and I am going to my home, my new home! After so many years of regret of leaving Poland, I made the right choice of coming to America!
