The Night Before: After a visit to the temple, and dinner at Chuck-A-Rama, Mike and Dave got their bikes ready, checked out their goodies, and had a crash course on changing a tire.
THAT WAY | GO THIS WAY | With Dave's first leg of 34 miles completed at a blistering 27.4 pace, Mike headed out to conquer the next 46 miles. Too bad he had the car keys in his back pocket and had to turn back 3 minutes into it! Dave's final time was 1:14:32.
LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION. | RALPH WALDO EMERSON | Mike rode the next 46 miles to Montpelier in 2:57:48 at a 15.5 pace. And then it was Dave's turn for a brutal 45 miler that included the King of the Mountain Hill. Dave had two flat tires (good thing they had a crash course on tire-changing) and had a tough ride. He rode it in 2:54. The average says it was 12.5 pace, but that doesn't make sense compared with Mike's previous leg.
Mike rode a nice, fast 34 miles from Afton to Alpine, finishing in 2:30:51 at a 19.5 pace.
5 | After a short rest Mike and Dave headed out for the last 47 miles together. They took it easy into the finish, going a little slower than they had hoped, but enjoying the time together.
 ARE WE THERE YET?
At the finish, they were exhausted and kind of sick, but happy to be done. Let it be written that they both said they would NEVER do the whole thing. Their final time was 12:40. Way to go guys!
