BC: "For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required." -- Luke 12:48
FC: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -- Jeremiah 29:11

3: It ain't the clothes that make the cowgirl, it's the attitude and the heart. -- Unknown
5: "Cowgirl is an attitude, really. A pioneer spirit, a special American brand of courage. The cowgirl faces life head on, lives by her own lights, and makes no excuses. Cowgirls take stands. They speak up. They defend the things they hold dear. A cowgirl might be a rancher, or a barrel racer, or a bull rider, or an actress. But she's just as likely to be a checker at the local Winn Dixie, a full-time mother, a banker, an attorney, or an astronaut." - Dale Evans Rogers
8: Red Steagall | Justice Sandra Day O'Connor | "Before I rode occasionally on the round-up, it had been an all-male domain. Changing it to accommodate a female was probably my first initiation into joining an all-men's club, something I did more than once in my life." Sandra Day O'Connor Lazy B: Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest
9: Sarah "Sally" Buxkemper | Homer Martin representing Anna Mebus Martin | Mary Lou LeCompte | Sandra Murra Collier | The 36th Annual National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Induction "Golden Age Cowgirls" Marie Gibson Eloise Fox Hastings Mary "May" Emma Manning Lillie Pauline Nesbitt
25: Fern Sawyer 1976 Cowgirl Honoree (1917-1993) An all-around champion cowgirl, Fern was raised on a ranch where her father insisted she perform as well as the men if she was to help with the ranch work. Fern applied this same philosophy to her rodeo career, competing in men’s events in rodeos because she found women’s events too infrequent and uninspiring. Fern became the first woman to win the National Cutting Horse world title and be inducted into the Cutting Horse Hall of Fame.
26: Patti Since my initial phone call to you that faithful evening, we have been up , down, sideways and around this Wild ride with the Mustang Heritage Foundation. Through it all we both have kept the faith that we could make a difference for the general public and the horses. We have tried to keep it real and know who really loves these horses. Some that only a mother could love! Since 1979, I had a dream about how it all should work out for the adoption program .. You, Wes and your team have created more than I could even imagine. Thank you for your kindness and spirit toward me even when I am saying wait wait, slow down a minute on certain things. I have truly enjoyed each and everyone of your family, friends and dogs. But my heart really belongs to one of the sweetest men on this earth -- Papa Joe. Also I love being Auntie P to such darling young ladies, that I hope that I will get to see graduate college some day and be just like their grandmother Patti. Thanks for showing a Tennessee southern lady why Texas and Tennessee always helped each other in the history books. They know what true friendship is all about. Love to you on your special day ...but you deserve more. Paula Carr | Her name is Patti Colbert And crazy is her middle name She comes up with these ideas That bring her lots of fame But when it comes to goodness And sharing her life with others She is the total bomb And God is sure to bless her. Julie J. Bryant | Patti - You truly are an inspiration to myself and so many others. I am blessed to be a member of your team, and I look forward to all the adventures in store for us! Love, Randi | Patti: Congratulations on receiving the 2011 Fern Sawyer Award! You are an inspiration and blessing to me and so many people. Thank you for blazing a trail for all of the fillies and mares in the gelding-dominated equine world! I am so proud to be part of your herd! Thanks for all that you do! May God continue to bless you! – Jennifer Hancock | Congratulations on a wonderful exhibit and the flawless events surrounding the exhibit and the luncheon. It was truly a thrill for me to have the opportunity to meet Justice O'Connor and to hear her very positive words about the Museum and the exhibit. I want Patti Colbert to know that after Patti's acceptance remarks at the luncheon, Justice O'Connor very enthusiastically said, "I like her! She is just great! Where is she sitting?" I know she wanted to talk to Patti herself, but I think the crowd prevented it. In any event, Patti, everyone, including Justice O'Connor, thought you were GREAT!!! Best regards, (one of the other Patricias) -- Pati Meadows
27: Patti I kept trying to get cold feet and not come.. I kept telling Paula it was really not a man thing. Now I cannot tell you how much I truly enjoyed being there celebrating with you and being in a room with folks that I would have never imagine meeting in my life time. To describe what took place was so very hard to tell at the coffee shop in Tennessee. I said it is indescribable . You would just have to be there to see it all. But that is a sentence that I would use in telling about working with you since 2006 . You have introduced me to people only I could have just seen in my cowboy magazines. I have learned so much from you and your staff. Thank you for letting us live your dream with you. I meant every word I said at the breakfast ...you are a remarkable woman! Randall Carr | "I'll fly away, oh Glory I'll fly away in the morning When I die Hallelujah, by and by I'll fly away." Patti...thank you for allowing Jim and me and so many others to "Fly Away" with you on this great adventure. (It sure put a song in my heart!) Ann & Jim Souders | As you prepared your speech at the office the other day and said to me it had caused "reflection." I could so relate to that remark as you walked up to the podium. That moment caused me to reflect on the trails we have been down together. I thought to myself, "Well, here she blows!" I say that with all due respect because I knew that you were going to "blow everyone's skirts up" in your three short minutes with your contagious enthusiasm for those that cleave to the western lifestyle. As I sat with tears swelling up in my eyes, a huge lump in my throat that I could not seem to swallow, I thought just how blessed I am to have you as my dearest and best friend. You are the sister I never had. I love you and admire your work ethic in going about life with an open palm, a brain that runs wild as if on LSD, a heart for the less fortunate and a zeal for new and innovative undertakings. If I had to use only one word to describe Patti Colbert it would have to be "fearless." I'm proud of you and for you. You earned the Fern Sawyer Award through your philanthropic mindset and I'm certain Fern would have loaned you her bra for the day! As one of your mentors always says, "DRIVE ON, PARDNER!" -- Gayle
