1: Enjoy this stroll down memory lane. . . . | January 4, 2011 | 2011 began with much excitement... My mom moved in with us in January. The original plan was to renovate the basement... but we all discovered there was a better plan...for her to purchase her own house in Bremen.. Lynn and Gail left on January 5th for their World Cruise... to return on April 26th. In January we were all very excited for them... and praying they would have a wonderful time. We missed them too, especially on our daily walks to their house and very much enjoyed receiving their emails.

40: We had a good time in California. Susie and I stayed in a room with Steve and that first night we simply enjoyed hanging out with each other in the room. We stayed up quite late but it was good. The next morning we were up early and left for lunch with Dad, Sonja and Solena (who were in the room next to us). I could tell Dad was preoccupied with thoughts and emotions and would settle down after the memorial service which was at 2pm. We arrived at the church about 1pm and enjoyed seeing everyone. All grandchildren came, except Dave. The last time I saw everyone was 3 years ago for Gramma’s 90th bday. The joke was that Gramma had a way of getting us together. The memorial service was really good – seriously, it was one of the best I had attended. An album of Gramma singing The Lord’s Prayer was found the day before the service and that was played at the end. It was pretty cool. There was good attendance – her family of course, but also her “pew lady” friends – she seemed to have had a good group of ladies to share life with the past several years. I really enjoyed hanging out at Karen’s and going through albums and reminiscing – I do hope we can keep connected. (copied from my journal -- created this layout on 1/27/13. The following page was copied from the Obituary.) | Gramma was a doll collector -- Aunt Chris was in charge of distributing her many dolls. I remember those dolls being in the upstairs room when we would visit her house in Rhode Island. Steve volunteered to take them all... just kidding.
