A Visit to Gramma and Dza Dza's House | By Nancy Grochmal 2011
I love to visit Gramma and Dza Dza. They live in the country with lots of trees and fun places to explore. As we turn into the driveway, I see Dza Dza standing next to ONE BLACK dog and ONE BLACK truck. Kuba loves to ride in the truck with Dza Dza when he goes to the farm or out in the woods.
Gramma and Dza Dza have lots of animals that live in the woods around their house. These TWO BROWN fawns came to see who is visiting today.
Gramma and I held hands as we walked to the garden and talked about our busy day. We picked some berries and took them into the house. Gramma and I ate TEN RED strawberries! They were so sweet and delicious. Gramma gave me FOUR RED jars of jam to take home and share with my family.
In a spare bedroom, I found THREE BROWN teddy bears waiting for me. They were so soft and cuddly. We played house and then it was time for them to rest. Shh, I just put them down for a nap.
Gramma has lots of pretty flowers in the backyard. As I chased Kuba around the house, I found EIGHT WHITE daisies. I picked them for my mommy. She loves the smell of fresh flowers.
Sometimes Dza Dza and I go to Mullin’s Dairy and get a special treat. One time I ate NINE WHITE cheese curds for my snack. I think my favorite thing is the sound they make when you eat them, squeak, squeak, squeak.
Gramma took me to see something special on her front porch. She lifted me high into the air and I got to see FIVE BLUE eggs. The mama bird watched us carefully from a nearby tree. I told Gramma that I think she will take very good care of her babies, just like my mommy takes care of me. Gramma just smiled at me, she does that a lot.
Dza Dza and I like to play in the sandbox that he built. We like to haul the NINE ORANGE blocks in the trucks. The smooth sand feels so good on my hands and my bare feet.
Sometimes I try to catch butterflies at Gramma and Dza Dza’s house. This butterfly has TEN BLUE spots on it’s wings. I think it would be fun to be able to fly like a butterfly. I would sneak up on my mommy and tickle her nose. I think she’d like that.
Gramma likes to make things for me and my cousins. I found these SIX PURPLE ribbons by her sewing machine. I wonder what she is making us now?
Dza Dza loves to plant trees. There are SEVEN GREEN trees in front of their house. These trees are just like the one I have in my house at Christmas time.
When I play in the backyard, I like to look at all the flowers Gramma planted. Look what I found, FIVE PURPLE pansies peeking out at me! As I run to the swing, I find a big lily with SIX ORANGE petals. Oh, I’d better hurry, daddy is waiting to give me a push. I love to go high up to the sky!
Dza Dza spends a lot of time in his shed. He said he needs all these tools so he can fix things that Gramma breaks. These FOUR BLACK clamps are hanging on the wall with lots of other tools. Someday I will be old enough to help him fix things too.
There are lots of things to see at Gramma and Dza Dza’s house. I like to hide behind the trees and play games. There is ONE GREEN tree that has a funny face on it. Gramma said it reminds her of Dza Dza. She likes to make me laugh. I like to make her laugh too. We have fun together.
Dza Dza took me for a walk in the woods and he showed me SEVEN BLUEBERRIES. Dza Dza smiled as I picked one and popped it into my mouth. They tasted so good! He picked a lot of them and Gramma and I made blueberry muffins for breakfast. Everyone said I did a great job. I reminded everyone that Gramma helped too.
At the end of my busy day, mommy thought I needed a bath and she put me into the bathtub with THREE YELLOW ducks. Splash, splash and now it’s time to dry off and put on my pj’s. Mommy takes me around the room and everyone kisses me goodnight. I love all my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and especially my mommy and daddy. Good night everyone. See you in the morning for a another fun day at Gramma and Dza Dza’s. Good night, sleep tight.
Being a grandparent is the greatest gift in the whole world. Not only did we have the pleasure of raising three terrific kids, but now we have been blessed with many “little treasuresâ€, our grandchildren. We love all of you so much. Dza Dza and Gramma
