FC: A Year in My Life- 2011
2: The major event of the year happened in February. My Abuelita (Francesca Cortez) and Abuelito (Lorenzo Cortez) both passed away. It forever changed my life. I love and miss them both very much. | They are both buried in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in ELA. | Abuelitos at | 1992

4: Some of My Co-Workers | I was very touched when Biola's President, Dr. Barry Corey, sent me a personal sympathy letter.
5: My first born child, Israel, graduated from high school early in January and then was accepted to Biola University. He started in the fall there and at Rio Hondo.
6: "Don't count the years...count the memories." | This year, I started hanging out with my friend Mike Aroz. His daughter Gracie had terminal cancer. She passed in August. Our families have known each other for many years. We homeschooled together through Calvary Chapel Montebello.
8: Micah got braces in 2010. Naomi, David & Nikki were able to get braces this year. Nikki had clear ones. They were on for 4 months to fix 1 tooth. I am bartering work at the orthodontist in exchange for the braces. Thank God I know a trade where I can do that. | BRACES
9: We had a party at Michigan Park for Maya's 5th birthday in June. The Montezes and the Rubio's came. The kids had a water fight. | Maya's 5th Birthday!!!

11: Bride-to-be Rocky with our tour guide of the USS Hornet. He was a US veteran.
13: We had a tour of the Hornet, where Rocky (Raquel) was going to have her wedding reception the next day.
14: It was so much fun visiting with family. We camped out in 2 tents in Tina's backyard, and had a backyard movie night!
15: Our Family took Nikki to dinner for her birthday in September. We went to a Japanese Sushi Buffet in Whittier. | "Being a parent means never having a minute... yet always making a moment." - Michael Nolan
16: Abigails's 9th Birthday at Cortez Park, in Covina, Ca Sept 18th | We had the party after church at New Hope in West Covina. | Grandpa & Grandma Cortez, Tia Irene, Karina & Amanda, tia Irma & Amado and friends from chuch came.
17: A crazy phenomenon happened in many major cites throughout our nation because of the recession. It was called Occupy L.A. (or whatever city). | "OCCUPY"
18: I took the kids on an outing to downtown LA. We visited many places. We went on angel's Flight and ate at the Fried Shrimp place next to the theater. I took pictures using my new smart phone.
19: Naomi turned 15 this year on October 10th. We had a party for her at Nikki's brother Ken's warehouse in Azusa. Friends from Biola Star, CCM and cousins Kayleigh & Seamus came. It was very nice. Here we are setting up.
20: David makes all sorts of creative items. He made a mask for his Biola STAR class and hat and bag. He is very artistic.
21: HARVEST TIME David dressed as an old man, Mercy was a monkey, Eden was a poodle, and Maya was Strawberry Shortcake and a monkey.
22: I install windows on the side to make extra money. It has not only brought in extra money, but time well spent with my sons. | They are very hard workers! I am so proud of my sons.
23: We went to a campground tour at Wilderness Lakes in Menifee. They drove us around in a golf cart. It was cold and rainy. I used to go here as a kid with Tia Libby. | We took Janine with us. For doing the tour, they gave us a Bar-B-Q, $25 gas card and a Walmart gift card.
25: We are looking for a new church. We have been to Reality LA in Hollywood, New Hope in West Covina and here we are at Mars Hill OC at the Galaxy Theater in Costa Mesa. Seamus was with us that Thanksgiving weekend so he went with us. | After service, we went to the market and then took the food and ate at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa's school benches. We had a fun time playing around with plastic spoons.
26: We went to see Nikki's father's grave when we were at Rose Hills Cemetery.
27: I took David, his siblings & his friends David & Paul Martinez to Mulligan's for his 13th birthday in November. They had a great time!
28: My oldest child, Israel, turned 18 this year in November. Nikki & I took him & his girlfriend Janine out to dinner at Steak & Stein in Pico Rivera. It was a very nice atmosphere and excellent food!
29: Thanksgiving Weekend with Family!
30: Israel blessed his mom & I by saying thank you for everything. | We had a breakfast birthday for Israel on Thanksgiving morning. He turned 18! | Then on to the Food preparations for dinner. Karina heads up the kitchen. Abby helped in there this year too.
31: Thanksgiving Dinner! | This year we had the Noriega thanksgiving celebration on a different day so we didn't have to leave.

34: I took my 4 little girls to Biola for the Tree lighting ceremony. I love my girls!
35: We went to Reality LA in Hollywood then to eat at the Shrimp place in LA
36: We went downtown to just hang out after service. I liked this old building so I took the kids pictures.
37: We won the Christmas table display AGAIN! This year's theme was a Christmas Carol. Our Construction team used "We Three Kings" I came up with the idea and had the guys make the parts. I put it all together. | Before | After

40: Another Biola Christmas Party. This time with the warehouse | It was required to wear a tie. I wore my "fancy" Blue tape tie. | This party was "by invite" only. From Ed Alvarez.
41: Nikki & I went to a benefit concert for an organization called Invisible children. They help free children from slavery in 3rd world countries. It was at the Troubadour night club in Hollywood. | TROUBADOUR | Micah, Naomi & I went the previous night. We had a great time. Some of their favorite Christian Artists played that night.
42: Uptown Whittier's Holiday Sonata- 1st Friday in December. We saw the Rubio's when they were going on the horse drawn carriage
43: God has blessed me with my little girls.

47: Tia Terry was recuperating from hip surgery, so we went to visit her at a convalescent home in San Gabriel
48: CANDLELIGHT | We went to New Hope Christian Church in W. Covina for Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. It was beautiful.

50: It's always a wonderful time for the kids opening presents. | As is Abby! Mercy & Eden are still asleep. | Maya is having a great time! | See the piano decoration . It's the one I made for Biola's Christmas party. | This year we drew names for a gift exchange. Nikki picked David. She gave him a jacket.
51: Grandpa & Grandma Cortez always bless the kids with gifts. They had a great time opening all their presents. | We were so surprised when Ruben and Sharon gave the kids gifts. What a blessing!

53: SAN FRANCISCO NEW YEAR'S ROAD TRIP | We went to Tina's to celebrate New Years with family! | We stayed there for the weekend. Girls had fun time at the park feeding the geese.

56: San Francisco | We went into the city on the Bart, rode the cable cars, went to Union Square. It was such a fun family time!
