FC: Nathan and Angie Our Story
1: Nathan & Angie's Profile "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 116:15
2: Dear Birth Parent, Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I want you to know that you considering the road of adoption for your child shows an enormous amount of love and strength. I can't even pretend to grasp the amount of courage it takes to take this step, but I will say that it is a true gift and blessing to whatever family you chose as the adoptive parents of your child. I will keep you in my prayers, praying that God give you strength and peace of mind. Angie and I have looked forward to the day we become parents since we married over 3 years ago. We are faithful Christians and pray daily that God blesses all of the adopted children and birthmothers going through rough times. We both come from very close families. I grew up with my parents, 2 younger sisters (both of which are married with little ones running around) and a younger brother who is currently in college. Angie has 2 brothers who also are married with children, so family time is always eventful! We live near Angie's parents and younger brother and his family, which is great, as we have lots of time to spend with everyone. My parents and siblings live out of state. It is quite a drive, but we make it a few times a year to see everyone. They also come down here often to visit, which is always a blast, given both of my sisters have 7 kids between them, all under 8 years old. So, here is a little about me. I am 30 years young. I try to always keep a sense of humor about things. It helps me keep things in perspective. I enjoy playing games with family, watching movies, fishing, painting and drawing, as well as singing. Angie and I are active in our church community and intend to continue our involvement with our adoptive child to share God's love with him/her. I work from home. I have an online sales business, which allows a lot of flexibility in my schedule since I don't necessarily have to work a certain number of hours every week if I need to be focusing my time and attention in other areas. It also allows me the opportunity to play an active role in our adoptive child's home life, which I look forward to. I am very excited about the day when we become parents and look forward to being a dad! Angie is a school psychologist. She works with children to help get them the help they need, when they need it. She is passionate about her work, and is looking forward to being a loving caring mother to our child. She enjoys spending time with family, playing games, reading, cooking new and different meals, and outdoor activities. We enjoy a lot of the same types of activities which is always nice in a marriage. After we adopt, Angie may go to part time, giving more time at home with our child. She has summers off, so that gives us lots of opportunities to plan fun vacations and activities during those months, since I can just take time off away from my home business. Well, as you can tell, we are both very excited about adopting. It will give us the opportunity that we may not have had otherwise to raise children and fill our home with love and happiness. We trust that God will put the right child in our home and we hope that whatever decision you make, that you find peace in your decision. God Bless! Nathan
3: Dear Birth Parent, It is hard to know where to begin this letter. Of course I don't know what you are feeling right now, but I admire the love you have for your child, and I respect the sacrifice involved in developing your adoptive plan. I pray every day for the child who will become a part of our family. Nathan and I deeply desire to be parents, and we feel God has led us to adoption. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. I’d love to tell you some about ourselves. We’ve been married since 2007. We actually met when we were 18 while traveling with an international student group called Up With People. We lost touch for awhile until, finally, 7 years later (with some divine intervention!) we started dating and fell deeply in love. Nathan was well worth the wait and is the love of my life! In many ways, I'd describe us as "home bodies." We love just hanging out together and having family and friends over. We like to play games (board and card games, some video fames), watch movies, and do things outdoors together, like hiking or kayaking. Nathan likes to fish and is gifted in music and art. He draws, paints, sings, plays trumpet, and is learning guitar. I also like to read, cook, and at least attempt to grow flowers and an herb garden. We're also involved in our church and feel like it's important to do things that give back in our community. Nathan and I both come from very supportive, close-knit families. Most of my family lives nearby. We frequently gets together, and my parents have fully embraced the role of grandparents-extraordinaire! Nathan comes from a larger extended family. He is the oldest of four children. His younger sisters are both married with young children, and his brother is engaged. His family lives out of state, but we visit several times a year and are very close with his side of the family too. His whole family is a lot of fun. They have big family gatherings with food, games, and lots of kids always running around. We also enjoy hosting family members in our home for visits throughout the year. We're thankful our families are both super supportive our decision to adopt - they're about as excited as we are! I work as a school psychologist. I work with children, parents, and teachers to address developmental, learning, and behavior issues. I feel like I have a lot of training and experience to deal with whatever issues arise. I enjoy my job and love making a difference in the lives of children and families. I often see families in difficult situations, but it’s so rewarding when I get to see progress or feel like I’ve made a difference in a child’s life. I’m a big fan of educational toys and I love seeing children to explore their interests and using their imaginations. Nathan also has a lot of experience with children, although most of his experience comes from his large family. He is the oldest grandson, and he spent many years babysitting and caring for younger siblings and cousins. He also has an Associate’s in Elementary Education, which has given him even more insight into child development and learning. Kids love him and seem to be drawn to him! Nathan has a home business doing online sales. He has impressive self-discipline and loves working from home. The flexibility is nice too. He will be an incredible father, and I am so excited to see him in this role! Our faith in God is also a central part of our family life. We are members of a United Methodist church, which we attend with my family. My relationship with God is what gives purpose to my life. I do not know what the future holds, but I know that God will equip me with the strength and wisdom I need for whatever is ahead. My purpose is to serve God in all I do and live a life pleasing to Him. We pray that you will be blessed with peace and assurance during this process. Please know our prayers are with you, whatever you decide. Joyfully, Angie
