FC: Marietta Lynn Norton: 1st Year of Life
For this child I have prayed. And the LORD has heard my prayer. Samuel 1:27 | On January 15th, 2009, exactly two years after your daddy and I started dating, we found out we were pregnant with you. We were nervous and anxious, but our our joy and excitement out weighed any fear. The nine month journey with you kicking my left rib cage will always be a cherished time in my life. We love you dearly.
On September 25th your daddy and I stayed up very late. We went to bed after midnight, only for me to wake up at 1:27 in horrible pain. We called 911 and I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. As soon as we got there we realized you weren't squirming around like usual. Doctor Bruchalski told us he thought you were really sick and needed to come out. I will never forget watching your daddy put on the surgery suit. He looked so scared. We rushed to the operating room and you were born at 6:06 AM on September 26th, 2009. The day our lives changed forever. Despite the fact that you should have been born very sick the medical report reads, "The child was crying immediately." Your scream put our hearts at ease. You were a perfectly healthy little girl. We named you after Grandma Grutsch, because you were born on her birthday. You were a chunky 8 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. You had a big head and big feet. We loved every inch of you immediately.

 Coming Home
Our first few weeks together were filled with family, friends, and large doses of your cuteness. Most of our family came to Virginia to witness your Baptism on October 18th. And at three weeks old you went to your Godparent's wedding in Pennsylvania.
You grew so fast, before we knew it our newborn was one month old. This month you celebrated your first Halloween. You were a ballerina complete with a tutu and leg warmers. Aunt Jackie flew into visit and we had a great time. You seemed to like me best, but daddy could already get the best smiles out of you when he came home from work. | one month
beautiful smiles | By the time you were one month old we could catch you smiling on camera, but your first smile was on the day of your Baptism for Grandma Grutsch. Since that day everyone has said you look just like me when you smile. Your blue eyes seem to glisten!
Happy Thanksgiving! | We had a huge Norton family Thanksgiving together in Laurel. You didn't get to enjoy the great food but you sure did love spending time with all of your cousins and family. | two months
December was a busy and wonderful month. You saw your first snowfall and celebrated your first Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Norton's house. You got Sophie the Giraffe for Christmas. She was your first favorite toy. You looked precious with your little headband and red dress. | Merry Christmas
Three Months! Well, month by month your cuteness multiplied exponentially. You began rolling on January 22nd. You took your first plane ride too. You loved playing with your toys. We witnessed a record amount of snow in Virginia., and flew up to snowy, cold Minnesota to visit family.
 Minnesota here we come!
4 Months | This month saw even more snow, your first taste of rice cereal (which made you sick), and lots of fun adventures. This is also when we found out about your little brother or sister on the way!
You loved, loved, loved Disney Land. . Watching you on the Finding Nemo ride was one of the most joyous moments of my life. You were so happy. You like all the rides and music, but you didn't care much for the heat and sun! | San Diego | We went to San Diego for Anita and Jose's wedding, and then spent some extra time there for our first family vacation.
 six months
Happy Easter | This month you started sitting and doing the army crawl. We celebrated your first Easter and took another trip to Minnesota. Also this month, we made the decision to move to Minnesota, and we found our first house.
As my belly grew so did yours. You really started to chunk up around this time. You were an excellent sitter, roller, army crawler, and eater! As the weather warmed up you enjoyed lots of outdoor activities for the first time. You even made your first trip to Steubenville for Uncle Andy's graduation. | seven months
 The Great Outdoors
eight months | swimming | You hated water. You would scream in the tub, but when you went swimming for the first time you loved it. Since then, you have been a little fish.
moving on up | At the beginning of June, we moved out to Minnesota. We were sad to leave our family and friends in D.C., but we were excited to start our lives up North.
9 Months | At nine months you really left the baby stage. You started playing games, copying us, and getting into lots of trouble. Like the time you ate half a box of crackers while I was out of the room doing laundry. You also became more mobile as you began to crawl on all fours and began pulling up and cruising around furniture.
Family Fun! | The Zakzrewski family reunion was is O'Neill, Nebraska. You met your Great Grandma Z, lots of cousins and aunts and uncles, and visited the farm Grandma Grutsch grew up on. | The Grutsch family reunion was in Rapid City, South Dakota. You met Great Grandma and Grandpa Babl and lots of relatives. We even visited Mount Rushmore.
Cabin Week 2010 At the end of July, we drove Up North to the cabin. We were so excited to share our favorite place with you. Despite almost everyone getting sick with the flu, we had a great time together! | 10 Months
So Big! You really started getting into trouble at this age! You could crawl fast and pull up on anything. However, your sweetness made up for mischief. You were great at snuggling!
Minnesota State Fair! You had a great time at the fair with our family. You ate some crazy food including chocolate covered potato chips. That was your first taste of chocolate! You especially loved the animals! You were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. | 11 Months
Eleven months old, yikes! I can't believe your first year went by so fast. You are a delightful child, and we love every moment with you. You are stubborn and smart, funny and sweet, loving and chubby. Our lives have been infinitely blessed by you. Each day as you grow and develop, you make us proud. We can't wait to enjoy another year of bliss with you. We love you!
