BC: THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
FC: MEMORIES OF HOME | From: family & friends | To: Scott
To Scott Who always knows how to make us laugh, even on the hard days; this book is for you. | The people who are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I? Light up the darkness! -Bob Marley
"Families are like fudge... mostly sweet with a few nuts."
 MAKING MEMORIES
The family. We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. Erma Bombeck
so many | Age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
LIVE WELL LAUGH OFTEN LOVE MUCH
Sorry for yelling the title but thats how important you are. and instead of trying to rhyme with title I'll start by comparing your greatness to a car. But now that I think about it, A car is NO match for your wit. A 1950 Volkswagon type 2 sounds like a much better fit! Also known as "the transporter" with an engine in the back DUUUDE! There is a camper inside! This vehicle could never slack. YOU are the transporter to fun and Lord knows there's been crazy times. Since your a little backwards my comparison is number one. Gooooooooogle it you will be thinking "shit!" "that bitch is right! Why do we ever fight?" Bro, its cuz we siblings and its because I think we care and so I would like to apologize, for all the threats of spit to your hair. | I like to brush dogs, you like to herd sheep, June likes to scissor, but all three of us will forever keep each other very close to heart, even when we fart. I never thought that I would be this proud of you, prouder then when you tripped at graduation and learned to velcro your shoe. and if we would all slow down and quit moving to fast (thanks Jack Johnson) we will come to realize that these memories we make shall forever last. YOU are a gift to me and I love you soooooo much. Not a day goes by where I don't stop and sigh and thank God that I have you in my life. So, here's to all the laughter and the crazy CLUTCHing. lets all lift our glasses and toast to never changing. | POETIC ENSAMBLE OF WORDS FOR SCOTT
June | "More than Santa Claus, your sister knows when you've been bad and good."
Hey Scottie Bear!!! Let me just start off by saying you are the light of my life, tied with Ry of course. Not a day goes by that I don't miss you terribly! You are by far the best brother/ uncle/ friend any girl could ask for. We have had sooooo many great times together that I can't possibly reminisce them all. I will never ever forget our fun times. I have to say that one of my favorite memories was when you wore my dress down-town Clemson. LOL you did rip it but I think the sacrifice of the dress was well worth the memory. You have always been such a fun and outgoing person, never afraid to act yourself no matter where you are and I love you so much for that. We have had some hard times as well, but I wouldn't give up any of the memories I have with my crazy little brother; good or bad. Although, there was that one time when you made me total my van! And the time you cut me with a machete. But every time I look at my scar I just laugh and remember when I wanted to freakin' kill you (but at the same time I couldn't help but laugh about it.) You can definitely be a little shit, but I guess thats what little brothers are for! You have always been there for me and I thank you so much for that! I cant believe how grown up you are now (well with some exceptions lol) and I'm so proud of what you have become. You will always be the #1 man in my life no matter what. Nothing will come between us! I love you soooooooo freakin' much and I cant express in words how grateful I am to be your little, big sister. I miss you so much and I hope you will be extremely careful in all your adventures in the future and don't forget to write! Love your favorite sister in the whole wide world!!!! MUAH MUAH!!! June
Next to her father you are the most important man in her life.
 Uncle Scott
Hey Brother, I know we don't talk anymore but I want you to know how much you mean to me. I think about you all the time and pray for your safety every night. That's as lovey dovey as I'm gonna get. Besides that, give 'em hell! I know you'll do a great job and I also guess there are quite a few great soldiers that are going to be counting on you and your team. Always remember the impact you and your brothers have on each one of us back home. Without you, I couldn't even write this message. We take it for granted every day but none of us could ever say thank you enough. I know you hear it all the time but thanks for what you do and please be safe. I know you will. Don't take this the wrong way but I don't really worry about you. You can take care of yourself. I'm very proud of the person you've become. No matter what you will always be my brother. See you soon. Ron
Sergeant Beckwith | We are so proud of you

SKOT | this is why I'm
Bert, Since elementary school we have been stuck together alphabetically, through your days of mismatched tube socks and larger than life hair! We always seemed to get into just the right amount of trouble without getting caught. Remember me pushing your Datsun truck out of the Sonic parking lot to jump start it late one night? And days of me coming to fetch you for school, sometimes unsuccessfully, but we always knew how to get Crunk even on the way to D Dub, doing the motorcycle and snapping the whole way. Who could forget the torture we put Mr. Presig through on a daily basis, and walking in late to Mr. Jones. I'll never forget the time you took the wrap for the "Pimp my wife" porno that was rented the night of my party when my mom was out of town. Making our senior crowns was bitter sweet because I knew you'd be gone too soon! I remember these days like yesterday and love our friendship so much. I am so proud of the P.I.M.P you have become. Thanks for always being my guy perspective and dealing with my ways! I miss you Eskayohtee be safe and come home soon! You know I can't get married without you! Love always, Ernie <3
Hey man, I heard you are gettin' drunk and having a blast over there! You should save it for the states! I cant wait to see you. We are definitely going to have some fun. Be safe man, its going to be crazy, you are a damn good soldier though and I'm extremely proud of you. I couldn't ask for a better friend, we have had some fun times together that I will never forget. Some things have changed a little lol. I will see you! Miss you man, we all miss you and love you! See you soon. P.S. I think you should marry Alicia some day, she's cool as shit.
Hey Skot! It’s your old pal Jam! I hope you’re doing well and having some fun. I know it’s probably not going to be anything like being in Germany, or the other places you’ve been to, but hopefully you’ll be able to find some kind of shenanigans to get into in Afghanistan. I know you’ll find some way to entertain yourself out there! I miss you a lot buddy, I really hope that we get to hang out before you ship out. I will definitely try to make it out to Clemson when you get to come down on leave next, and we can reminisce and have a few brews! When Alicia told me she was going to make this book for you, I was thinking I should write you a letter and just talk about some of the fun times and funny shit we’ve been through over the years, but I have a terrible memory, and you probably remember most of them better than I do! But we have definitely had some good times! Anyway, I really hope you are well and everything is good and you’re staying positive! I know you’re gonna be the coolest guy in Afghanistan! Take care of yourself, and always call me whenever you have the chance! I LOVE YOU BUDDY! JAMATHAN | "A good friend helps you up when you fall. A best friend pees their pants laughing, trips you again, and calls you an asshole."

"I promise you've never met anyone as crazy as my brother" -Valerie
You have to go on and be crazy. Craziness is like heaven. -Jimi Hendrix
“The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some
form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.” | Crazy Best
KITTY BECKWITH | "To call her a dog hardly seems to do her justice, though she had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit she was, to all outward appearances. But to those who knew her well, she was a perfect lady."
"The bond that links your whole family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof."
Scott Phillip Beckwith You are awesome. I'm gonna sound like an old person: Seems like yesterday when you were a little, blond curly headed BLOTT sitting on the floor. Donna and Rita Marra in NJ called you "Scott the Blott." Traps! You always had a trap set up somewhere. String, rope, pieces of wood. What were you trying to catch anyway? Speaking of catching, you must have a dictionary of smells stored in your sinus. If it was in your hands it got a sniff. Talk about ticks! I watched you catch a baseball during a game, give it a sniff, then throw it in! Too funny. Road trips, OMG its a wonder you and I survived! Well actually YOU! I'm laughing here. You are a natural with animals. Stay with training. Christmas 2010, American Legion, you get it now. Know what? "Sounds like life to me, ain't no fantasy, so lets celebrate. Hey, bartender bring us a round!" So, be awesome my soldier! You are one of the chosen few. Praise the Lord. MOM PS: I need to hear the story about the "Lets blow up aerosol cans all over the yard" weekend!
Dear Scott, Just a short message to let you know we are always thinking about you and praying for your safety, health, well-being, safe return and oh yes, your sanity lol. Don't let that go just because your father's has okay? | Anyway, I can remember the day I cut your umbilical cord in the hospital releasing you into this world. You came in a surge of energy; lots of good spirit. I was proud that day to have another son and am very, very happy you and your sisters became so close to one another. That unity is priceless. Of course, life has had it's ups and downs for you, me and all of us but with God's help, guidance and blessings we've come through it just fine. You have demonstrated how well you've come through it all; the good and bad times. Those rough teenage years were all part of life but a learning period for sure. I know Nana and Grandpa were always very fond of you and I know they are VERY proud of you now. Hang in there, stay safe, think before you act, trust in God and Jesus for guidance always. Lots and lots of love from a very, very proud, loving and caring father. Seriously, I am and always will be. Stay in touch as you're able to. Hope to see you soon. Love, Dad. God Bless you always and keep you safe.
"Other things may change us but we start and end with family."
Dearest Cousin, You are the man. I was looking through old pictures and realized you were such a cute kid, we could have put you in a commercial! Wish I could say the same for your sisters. Haha jk. Anyway look at you now, conquering the world. Its amazing how much you have accomplished. I admire your ambition! We are all so very proud of you. As always, I will keep you in my prayers. I raise up my glass in your honor, prost! Much Love, Blake
Scott, Back in the days of summer church camp and awkward pre-teen haircuts, I always wished you would ask me to the "Banquet”, the dinner that was held every year on the last day of camp. I was such a funny lookin’, shy girl back then; so I just stood in the background and watched as all the other girls flirted with you. I remember in particular one year a pretty girl (someone you would refer to now as a "nice lady") with long, blonde hair ended up wearing the same dress as me to the Banquet. (That was a big deal back then to us chicks.) Even though I had no sign of boobs anywhere and was a certified brace-face dork...I remember, you came up to me, pointed in her direction and said, " You're way prettier than that girl.” It’s those little things that made you cooler than the other kids, at least to me. I wanted to make you this book so you would always know how much people love you and are always thinking of you. If I could say one thing about you I'd say that your happiness is contagious. I never would have thought that a giant jumping on-top of me yelling “get up, get up!” when I was sick would make me feel better, but somehow it did. What you give people, laughter and optimism, that’s a real gift. I know it's not just me who feels that way, but almost everyone who comes | in contact with you (except maybe the strangers you try to fight on New Year after some severe Clutching.) I've gotta tell you, every outrageous story you tell, your eclectic collection of funny tattoos, and how you like to talk about things like pooping...it all makes up a part of who you are. And we love you that way. You are awesome despite – no... because of your craziness. You are SPICY and REAL. And I hope nothing in life changes those things about you. Like a good wine, cheese (or pickles in your case), I know you'll just get better with time :) I believe in you and will support you in whatever you dream to do! Over the years you have weaseled your way into my affections somehow whether I like it or not. And so now you have a woman that cares about you for life. I am here for you and the family come rain or shine, you know that. I know you're going to be just fine out there, even though it's complete madness in the middle east, I'm not scared for you. I know I'll see you soon. And when I do we'll have lots of stories to share and I'll wrap my scrawny arms around you in the biggest (little) hug I can possibly give. Till then I'll be praying for you and your buddies every day. I Love you. Your friend, and
