FC: Bubba and Sissy | Our First Year Together in Pictures
This book is lovingly dedicated to Christopher Milton Lohaus-Fast and Karolynn Rose Lohaus-Fast in honor of their first full year together as brother and sister. Love, Mommy
Christopher was so excited to meet his new sister. We got our phone call that she was born on Friday, August 6, 2010. We were all so surprised and excited! Daddy and Mommy got to go to the hospital to meet Karolynn and her birth family on Saturday. Sunday, she came home to meet her big brother for the first time.
Christopher fell in love with his sister right away, and wouldn't be parted from her. He is the best big brother ever. He held her, sang to her, fed her, burped her, and wasn't even grossed out by her diapers. He grew to love her unconditionally. He was her Bubba, and she was his Sissy!
Bubba took his duties very seriously. Morning, noon, and even night time, he kept his Sissy close by.
On September 17,2010, we officially became a family when Karolynn Rose was legally adopted. What a happy day!
In October, we faced great sorrow together as a family. On October 15, 2010, we lost our baby brother, Samson Paul, when he was born at only 19 weeks. Loosing a brother that we were looking forward to adding into our loving family was hard for all of us. Christopher and Karolynn would have made an excellent older brother and sister to Samson. He is dearly missed by all. We were blessed to have a local artist who was able to draw a picture of Samson from a photo taken of him in the hospital. She also drew a picture of Christopher and Karolynn. These pictures hang together in one frame in our living room. Chrisopher's hand rests next to Samson's handprint from his birth certificate. This picture of Bubba and Sissy was taken on the day Samson was born.
Bubba made an effort to play every day with Sissy, even if it meant just playing next to her. She's still not that good at playing the DS.
Bubba and Sissy also like to play with our furry family. This is Jack-Jack, the rabbit.
Bubba and Sissy's first Christmas together was such a treat. We spent time together with the Lohaus and the Fast families.
Our first picture in front of the Christmas tree. Happy happy times!
We had tons of snow in January and February. | The whole family enjoyed several snow days off from school. | Christopher and Dad went sledding on the hill behind the high school. | Look out, Bubba! That's not a snowboard!
Sissy enjoyed lots of days cuddling with Mommy, Daddy, and Bubba. | Mommy crocheted her dresses, hats, and sweaters. | Here's a hat that Mommy made to keep her little ears warm. | You are all ears, Sissy!
Bubba shared his old baby clothes with Sissy, too. This sleeper is one that Bubba wore when he was a baby.
Bedtimes are special times for the whole family. | Both Bubba and Sissy like to snuggle. | What a beautiful family we have.
As Sissy grew, Bubba watched out for her. "Bubba" was one of the first words Sissy learned to say.
Bubba taught Sissy about Saturday Morning Cartoons, which Sissy especially loved!
Sissy is also learning to share her new toys with Bubba. It isn't always easy, though, like when Bubba wants to play with her binky.
But they love to play light sabers! Sissy usually wins. | They love to build together, too.
What a wonderful year Bubba and Sissy have had! | Happy First Year, Bubba and Sissy!
