BC: There were dozens of these beautiful butterflies feeding on the flower bushes behind the camp at Potomac Elementary School -- a sign of life and of change and a beauty to behold. That is the way I view my grandchildren -- being transformed into beautiful butterflies as they grow. They are full of life and of change and they are truly beauties to behold and to cherish.

3: America | July 14, 2010 Daichi (age 7) and Sola (age 5 1/2) flew by themselves from Japan to the United States. Here they are with the attendant who made sure they arrived safely.

4: BUCKLE UP FOR SAFETY

5: Finally Arrived at Grammy & Grandpa's

6: Time to Unpack Grammy showed Daichi and Sola where to put their clothes. They unpacked their suitcase and put everything in its proper place. They were careful to put all the clothes away very neatly in the drawers. Grammy and Grandpa were very impressed at how well they did. They kept the drawers and the room neat during their entire visit....and without being told.

8: I'm bigger! | No, I'm bigger! | Let's see! | Daichi and Sola have both grown since their last visit in December 2009.

9: Jet Lag | Sola thought it was funny that Daichi fell asleep. But she had her own moments of jet lag. | ZZZZ

10: Aunt Anne sent Daichi and Sola an e-mail with two games -- matching and bowling. Lots of fun!

12: July 15th The playground was a big hit. This was only one of the times the kids went to the park to play. | FUN AT THE PARK

13: Is | Way to go, Daichi!

14: COLD STONE ICE CREAM | July 16th It was hard to decide what flavor to get. They all looked so good! Daichi and Sola both chose the pink lemonade sorbet. Daichi added white chocolate chips; Sola added rainbow sprinkles and gummy bears.

15: That was SOOOO good!!

17: PANERA BREAD | July 17th After shopping, we all had lunch at Panera's -- one of Daichi and Sola's favorite places. Sola had chicken noodle soup and a ham sandwich. Daichi had a HUGE salad and he finished ALL of it. Grammy and Grandpa were VERY surprised. And it wouldn't be complete without bringing home a cinnamon bun for a snack!

18: YUMMY DONUT SHOP | July 18th To the donut shop for breakfast.

19: "Toy Story 3" at the Rio and then fun at the nearby playground afterwards.

21: Imagination Cam | I M A G I N A T I O N C A M P | July 19th Sola begins Imagination Camp and meets her counselor, Eric. First project: Make a name tag.

22: soccer camp | July 19th First day of Soccer Camp! Shin guards, socks and cleats. And can't forget to double-knot the shoelaces! Daichi meets his coach - an instructor in the U.S. from Great Britain.

23: S O C C E R C A M P

24: Daichi in Action | A friend congratulates Daichi on a good game. | Stay with the ball, Daichi.

26: Samoa - 2nd Place | Spain - 3rd Place | Brazil - 4th Place | July 23rd The last day of camp, players cheered for each other and received a certificate. And the winning team was announced.

27: ARGENTINA is the winning team! Daichi and his Argentina teammates receive a "trophy" and high-fives.

29: July 23rd

31: It was fun seeing Aunt Ally!

32: July 27th Daichi had camp today, but Sola's was closed because of power outages. So Grammy and Sola went to pick fresh peaches at the orchard.

35: July 29th | July 29th Delicious hamburgers with choice of toppings - and lots of them! And yummy milkshakes!

36: July 31st Hershey Park, Pennsylvania | Daichi and Sola were measured to see what they could ride -- anything with Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

38: Lots of Fun Rides Their favorite was the drums. They went on it 5 or 6 times!

41: August 2nd - Sola begins Princess Ballet Camp (Here she is with teacher, Miss Margie.)

43: August 6th | "Princess Rapunzel" Ballet Camp Recital | Dance Group with Miss Margie and her helper, Sally.

44: Daichi and Sola had a lot of other fun moments during their visit. The next few pages show some of the highlights of how they spent their time.
