BC: The Power of Attitude Our lives are not determined, By what happens to us, But how we react to what happens. Not by what life brings to us, But by the attitude we bring to life. ~Anonymous

1: Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen, Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!" - Dexter Kozen | In Dedication to the Mothers of Brotherly Love West, C. A . Each of you has played a significant part in my walk with Christ and my personal life. I see a part of my own mother in each of my “spiritual” mothers. I am so glad to have been able to take special time out with each one of you as we traveled by Charter Bus to Mall of America and to Orlando, Florida or by car to Lambert’s Café, Innsbrook Inn, shopping and of course eating out. Our phone conversations and personal visits have been awesome! I wanted to show my appreciation to you by giving you something that means the world to me: pictures. They are a snapshot that was captured, a moment in time; an instant of a specific point in our life that can bring to our memory emotions attached to that occasion. Sometimes those memories can be the most pleasant, the most painful, the funniest, the struggles, the accomplishments, the embarrassing, and the private. But for many of us photos are a way for others to visualize a glimpse of who we are and where we have come from. My mother taught me the Golden Rule: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” NIV Luke 6:31 MOTHERS THIS IS FOR YOU! Author: Sis. Karen A. Johnson & Alexis

3: Mother Broyles You remind me of my mother who always made sure I looked good leaving the house. My clothes were always clean and neat. As I got older my mom would sew the arm sleeves of my suit jackets because they were always too long. I didn’t care, but she did, which made me feel really special. I remember at the Old Brotherly Love on a Tuesday night as I came in for Prayer you said to me, “Child, why do you where those trousers to church? Don’t you have any skirts?” And I answered “No, ma’am." You then asked my skirt size and the next week you brought me a bag full of skirts. My heart was overjoyed to know that you cared that much. From then on I knew that every time you snatched a lint ball off my sweater or scrubbed baby milk off my skirt that it was because you loved me. Later on I found out that your love for posing for pictures was as great as my love for taking them and we bonded even the more. I love you for being honest and frank and letting me know that I can do the same. THANK YOU MOTHER BROYLES!

11: Mother Lawson You remind me of my mother who is always so helpful and willing to go out of her way for everyone. I am so grateful to have you as a friend. I thank God that you are willing to learn the latest technology such as e-mail and texting. This enables us to communicate even more often. Even as I was in the final stages of putting this book together you came through doing what you do best. I sent you a text to cancel our meeting because I was sick and within the hour or so you and Millie, God Bless her beautiful heart, were knocking at my door with soup, juice, crackers, throat lozenges and my favorite, pecans and peanut butter. This is who you are all the time. I have watched you witness to people no matter where you are even at the Muny when you were passing out tracks in the bathroom. The love of Jesus flows through your generosity; you are so blessed and such a blessing to others. I love you for always thinking of me and my daughter. THANK YOU MOTHER LAWSON! | Mikki Lawson

21: Mother Joe Doris Baker: You remind me of my mother who would always tell me: ..vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Rom 12:19 You allowed me to spill my guts to you, to be open and honest with you, to trust you and know that you would not judge me. No matter how much pain I was in you understood but would just say let’s take it to the Blue Room where we would discuss and pray about it. In the end I knew it was always God’s choice for me to show love and mercy and He would give me the strength to do so. I also knew I could trust you to be private about our conversations. I have enjoyed every sleepover, outing, luncheons (planned and surprised ones), family gatherings and prayer sessions. I love you for giving of your time and yourself to me and my family. THANK YOU MOTHER BAKER! a.k.a. Lilly

I thought Kindergarten was where I learned my colors but they never taught me the different pigments of purple, like plum, lilac, periwinkle and magenta. 43: Mother Farrell You remind me of my mother who allowed me to get a summer job at age 14 and taught me the importance of being a reliable and dedicated person which carried over into my employment. My first memory of you was your dedication and devotion to attending Sunday school. You were such an inspiration to me because you not only came to Sunday school but you studied and participated in discussion as well. My second memory of you is, “Baby, do you have a job?” I am so thankful I did. You and I could share post office talk because your husband retired from there and you knew that it was long hours and hard work. You encouraged me to go to work every day, do my job giving God the praise. I learned through our many talks to never quit one job until you have another. If someone were to ask me your favorite scripture I would say it has to be: 2 Thessalonians 3:10 ...... that if any would not work, neither should he eat. I love you for your wisdom and encouraging words. THANK YOU MOTHER FARRELL!
