2: Shirley was born in a farm house. | she has has 1 older sister and 2 younger brothers. | she milked cows before school and wash clothes on a wash board and made hay in the summer. | her father owned a bus and later donated it to the methodist church. | Methodist Youth Fellowship(MYF) was her only entertainment as a young girl. | she was robbed at gun point when she worked at a store. | after graduating in 1960 she went to Scotts Beauty School and became a beautician. | she worked as a beautician In Washington D.C. in the early 60's | she had a son who died at birth(Kyle Jarrett) The angel is buried at the farm in the cemetery.1970's | Scott Bryon was born on May 27, 1961 Darla Rae was born on Aug.21,1964 | she worked at the Celanese Plant for years and now cares for the elderly in their homes. | Never afraid of getting her hands dirty she remodeled her first home on Yuma Street ..painting, hanging paneling..you name it, she did it! | she makes the best homemade bread in the world!! | she is very savvy with money and owned some rental properties. | Shirley always maintains her sense of humor and be counted on ,even in difficult times. for her very quick whit! | Shirley LOVES babies. | she is very giving and kind ! | she excepted Jesus as her savior | Bet you didn't know... | as a teen she would go to sock hops in town and square dances in flintstone,Md. | she went to her prom..but had to be home at 11:00 | brother Mark calls her "Duke of Earl" or just "Earl" | Shirl the pearl
3: it took her an hour to get to school and an hour to get home each day on the bus. | she is a"Daughter of the American Revolution"on both sides. (D.A.R.) | she has been to Mexico 5 times,Bahamas 2 times,Hawaii,Cayman Islands,Canada, Virginia & Myrtle Beach,Florida,New York,Ocean City,Md... Just to name a few! | her first job was working at Ed Masons' Barn as a car hop. . | she played the Accordion and was too little to hold it, so Nancy had to hold the other side while Jimmy pumped it for them. They took lessons on Greene Street in Cumberland at Storage Music store. | her greatest joys are Frank and family. | she learned to manage money the hard way. Bernard opened up a bank account for each child when they got jobs..well Shirley grabbed the wrong bank book and deposited her check into Jimmy's account. Bernard would not make Jimmy give back the money and told her that she has to be very careful with her finances. She never forgot that lesson. She still says that Jimmy owes her interest! | she does not believe in credit cards..If you can't pay for it,don't buy it. | she's very funny | her brother, Jimmy, had a horse named Tony..and Tony did not like Shirley riding him. The horse never missed an opportunity to take her under a tree branch to knock her off his back! Jimmy would laugh and laugh! | she loves a bargain! | her first car.. 1962 .Lark Studebaker

5: This is where Bernard & Vivian lived. Shirley grew up here and called this farm house home. The farm is located just over the Pa. line...just a few minutes from Cumberland,Md. Jacob Anderson purchased the property in the 1800's. Jacob had a mercantile store near Centerville. He is the oldest Anderson to be buried at the farm along with Susan. | The Anderson Home | Bernard- wearing his bus uniform.He drove a bus,which he owned,to & from the Celanese and Kelly Plant.It was called the "Blue Goose". As little girls, Shirley & Nancy would play dress-up on this top porch..and sit on a big glider on the bottom porch. | (Front view) | (Side view) | 1940's

9: James & Napler Anderson (Kings Parents) | Great- Grandmother | James Anderson was the son of Jacob Anderson. Jacob was the son of Robert Anderson who was an immigrant that came over on a ship. No further information is known. | (James is buried at the farm) | (Napler is buried beside her first husband)
10: King & Lillian Anderson(Ellicot) | Brother and Sister | King had 7 siblings in all. | Carol and Bernard, along with other local children, attended a school that was built next to the Anderson property. It was named the Anderson School. It is not known when or who built the school. | When Bessie was in poor health she wasn't able to clean. So, King hired Mary Growden to clean for them. Mary didn't want paid with money but Geese eggs ..so she could hatch and raise them. | Aunt Lil' and daughter Zelma lived across the road from the Anderson Farm. .Zelma was often seen riding her horse down through the fields.
11: King Anderson Bessie(Dicken)Anderson Carroll Anderson-Left Bernard Anderson-Right | Grandfather & Grandmother (on fathers side) | After getting a bad headache , Bessie passed away on the couch in the farm house from an Aneurysm . King, having to take care of the farm and family, made Bernard the official cook. All the other boys were sent out in the fields to work. Bernard became a very good cook over the years...making homemade pies and bread. 15: Shirley says she had strict patents. When coming home from dates, Bernard would turn the porch light off and on until she came in the house.
