Wishing you abundant blessings as you continue to love and cherish! | Cindy

Happy Blessed 60th Anniversary! I want you to know how blessed I am to be married to Joel. Your love, nurturing and guidance raised an incredible man. He glorifies God in all he does . . . a tribute to all you have modeled in your lives. I thank you for “loaning” him to me for this journey. You have raised a beautiful family, a true blessing to so many people. Your marriage, your life work and your love of others are standards each of us look up to. Gene, I remember all so well many, many years ago your prayers for me at a crossroad in my life - it was heard and I am forever grateful for the road it moved me to. I thank you and am deeply grateful for you. Shirley, your love and selfless approach to this life has impacted our family in positive, wonderful ways. You have been such a great woman of faith, a Proverbs 31 woman, that I and the girls can see, watch and learn from. I thank you for this. It means the world. So on the Celebratory day - Celebrate “you” the plural of the best there is. Enjoy your wonderful family - each and every one of them are amazing people - amazing gifts from God. My love and gratefulness always, | Barb

Some of the things I treasure are the fishing trips with Grandpa to his pond. Everything I know about catching and cleaning bluegill I learned from him. But the real treasures are the profound life lessons learned on the pond. Grandpa Carter always has a way of giving excellent advice on complicated aspects of life in very simple terms. One thing I always looked forward to when I was younger was heading to the basement at Grandma and Grandpa's house for the seemingly endless supply of new and interesting toys grandma had found at one garage sale or another. She has always been a serious garage sale master and I have learned a lot from her about how to stretch a buck. I am truly blessed to have an example like them to look up to and model my life after. | Matt | Happy Anniversary to you both! You have reached a milestone that few experience, for a variety of reasons, the most important being your commitment to God and to each other. Thank you for setting a grand example of the kind of marriage God puts forth in the Bible. You have passed on, not only to the next generation but to generations to come, the way a Christian life is to be lived. Continue to cherish each day and know that prayers and kind thoughts are sent up on your behalf often. I appreciate your generosity, your guidance and your love! | Joel

Brandt | Some of my earliest memories of Grandma are of her selflessness; the way her frugality and garage sale savvy allowed her to pour her whole self into faithfully serving her husband, her family, and her God. As I grew older I began to realize that those character traits came from a true and unending love for the Lord, a desire to serve Him and bless others with what she'’d been given, and to love others as Christ did. To me, Grandma is a living example of what it means to be a good steward. Nearly every early memory I have of Grandpa relates to his role as a messenger of the word of God, both inside and outside of the walls of the church. The way he has led our entire family to a deeper understanding of our Lord and Savior is such a unique blessing. Even if it’'s just fishing trips teaching me the virtue of patience, his example and gift of wisdom continue to show me how to live my life as a man of God. What is there to say? Sixty years!!! For twenty-two of those, Grandma and Grandpa Carter have been the perfect example for me of what a truly great marriage looks like, and for the thirty previous to that, did the same for my mom (I can only imagine this was essential in shaping the 25 year marriage my parents will celebrate this year). Their love for each other never ceases to be apparent to everyone around. Their communication, teamwork, and oneness allow them to share love of the same intensity with others, straight from their collective heart. I can only pray that someday God would allow me to follow in their footsteps and bless me with a marriage as fruitful and God-honoring as that of Gene and Shirley Carter.

For Grandma I remember staying with her for a weekend while mom went to Chicago. I remember I got to bake with her and go to garage sales with her! She always finds the craftiest ways to make something that is someone’'s junk into a diamond. She sees the beauty in things that not everyone might! I admire her for her keen eye and reminding me that you don’'t have to have the name brand and most expensive thing to be happy. Grandpa has two things that stick out in my mind. First we went out fishing with him. I had been fishing a few times before but it was always with bait (some kind of worm or night crawler type gadget to catch the fish). This time around he taught me how to catch the fish with just the lure. I had never done that before, and I thought it was awesome that it could be done! The second thing was a note he wrote me. At the end of the note it said, Your life is a gift from God, what you do with your life is your gift back to God (it was along those lines, I don’'t have the exact quote). I hung that in my mirror and I read it often. Grandpa’'s little phrases have always had a great significance in my life. I will forever be grateful for all of the life lessons he has taught me and how he continues to show us what a life following after Christ looks like. | For Grandma I remember staying with her for a weekend while mom went to Chicago. 33: To Grandma: I always feel like I learn so much from time with you. I have been challenged to be resourceful and have an appreciation for all I have been given. God has given and grown in you such a servant's heart and it is my prayer that He will develop the same servanthood within me for His kingdom and my own marriage and family. Thank you for raising the man who became my father and has loved me so well. So much of him has come from you and for even just that alone I am so grateful. I continue to realize what a blessing it is to be given the gift of family, so thank you Grandma for your work to create such a loving family. I love you! Congratulations on sixty years of marriage! To Grandpa: Where do I begin? I am reminded often of lessons from you. Just yesterday I went fishing for the first time in many years but was excited to know I had some idea what to do, thanks to you. From the most basic of lessons such as fishing to the most important lesson of all, a life submitted to Christ, you have been a wonderful leader and teacher. Thank you for being the strong head of the family that raised my father, who has loved me so well. Thank you for your own submission to Christ. I am continually reminded of what a blessing this family is, so thank you for your part in that. I love you! 34: Grandma, you have always been a fantastic example for me, in so many ways. Your innovativeness and creativity has always been something I've admired; with you, nothing goes to waste, and I try to implement that quality in my life. One thing that I remember from growing up is using rubber stamps and using the embosser, to me, it seemed so magical! And I always looked forward to visiting with you so we could use stamps, or do other crafty things like that. Grandpa, you have always been filled with insight for (or so it seems to me) everything under the sun. You are always compassionate and selfless towards everyone you meet. You live your life through and for Christ. You are probably the hardest working and toughest man I've ever met. To you both, I want to say thank you. Thank you for being shining examples for me. You have impacted my life in more ways than I even probably know. You have given me a great example of how to live a great, happy life. The list is long of values that you have taught me, but the one that I think is the most valuable is: You live your lives Christ centered, your faith and devotion throughout life is something I aspire for. Thank you so much to you both. | Lauren | Grandma, you have always been a fantastic example for me, in so many ways. 35: Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Jessica | Grandma. She is the most creative person that I have ever met. I remember always going to garage sales with her when I was younger and she would get something random that looked kinda gross and have the most amazing use for it. Grandma also always wants to help others. If someone asks her a question, she won'’t just answer, she will try to help you with it. One of my favorite memories of grandma is when we go decorate easter eggs with her. We’'ve done it forever and it really wouldn'’t be Easter without it! Grandpa is by far the most insightful person that I know. When we would go to dinner at their house, we would hear so many great stories about his child hood or something like that, and each one had a great message at the end. I remember going fishing with him, my dad and Megan when I was like eight years old. He kept giving us pointers on how to hold the pole or how to cast. Another memory I have with grandpa is when I had a great talk with him in Kansas this past year. I had just gotten back from my church camp and I still had a few questions. We ended up talking for a while and at the end I had learned so much. Grandpa and Grandma Carter have been such role models for me throughout my whole life. When I think of either one of them, I instantly think of their outstanding faith. They both show me where I would someday like to be with God. Having them as grandparents I was shown who God really is and what blessings e can bring. They were such a great example of how to put others first. I love you guys! | Jessica

Galatians 5:22 – But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. I can see all of these fruits in your marriage and your respective ministries and believe that along with the presence of Jesus Christ in your marriage, they are the reasons for your reaching this milestone! There are so many wonderful examples that you have set, so many things that I appreciate, but one of the qualities that you both share and that I admire most is your commitment. You are committed to God, your ministries and to each other. You have both been willing to set yourselves aside for each other. I am blessed to have you for my parents, grateful to have you as the kids’ Grandparents and so thankful for the last two and half years. Praise God! Happy Anniversary! | Andy

Ted Allen | It seems like yesterday I met you at my first Thanksgiving with the Carter family. I thought meeting and dating your daughter was unbelievable enough but to realize that she clearly came from a family of such amazing love and support was icing on the cake. So first of all I have to thank you for allowing me to marry your only daughter. Second, I want to thank you for modeling so much wisdom in how you live your lives -- from how to eat healthy, exercise, saving for a "rainy day" to properly decorating a perfectly round tree with holiday lights. Your commitment and love for your family is inspiring and such a blessing. I had never been a part of a family reunion until the Lear Reunion and each time I attend I feel it an honor to have been a part. And third, your expression of love; love for each other, love for life, love for family and most of all love of God. I am so blessed to have Cindy, the kids and the whole Carter family as part of my life. I love you both so much. Congratulations for marking 60 years of commitment. May God honor you with many more.

Happy 60th Anniversary! You are two amazing people that I am so proud to have as my mom and dad. You may have been my in-laws, but you always made me feel as if I was one of your children. Over the years, you both have guided me through so much, whether it was being a better Christian, a better mom or just a better person. Shirley, I appreciate the many talks we have had that helped guide me through problems or inspired me to do better. Weekly dinners at your house were something the girls and I looked forward to, just to spend the time catching up or learning new things. You have helped me become closer to God and for that as well, I thank you. Gene, I have always said I love listening to your sermons the most. They all are inspirational and really helped me understand how to be a better person or look at life in a different way. To watch and think of you during the “children’s moments” always brings a smile to my face and the many children you have touched over the years. Also, thank you for all your fishing tips. The girls and I enjoy fishing in Minnesota and it’s nice to be able put the poles together myself. You both are incredible individuals, but also are inspirational as a couple. You have touched so many lives and inspired so many people. I am so very thankful to have you in my life and just wanted to say “I love you both”. Happy Anniversary. | Tamara | Dear Grandpa & Grandma, You have helped me learn so many things that really helped me through life and helped me get through thick and thin. You guys are the best. We all love you. Thanks! | Megan
