BC: Mother's Day 2010 With love

FC: Happy Mother's Day | May 2010

2: When I was a Freshman in High School I remember the first day of try-outs for basketball. I was so nervous I left my lunch at home and my stomach burned through breakfast like it was nothing. We had a strenuous sprint test that I knew was very challenging. I always felt like I was going to pass out when I practiced it prior to that day. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I didn't have many friends yet as I was new to public school so there really wasn't anyone I felt comfortable asking to borrow money for something to eat.

3: The last period as I could hear and fell my stomach ache I got a note from the the school office. It said that I was to come pick up something when I was done with that period. When I arrived at the front desk They handed me a bag with two granola bars and my calculator which I had forgotten. There was a note from Mom that said "I love you and I'm proud of you!" I wept tears of gratitude in the bathroom that Heavenly Father had touched the heart of my loving Mother to bring those granola bars so that I would have energy for try-outs. But most of all it was one of the tender mercies that only Heavenly Father, Mom, and I would share forever. Thank you Mom. I love you and I always will! -Ben

4: Karen, You have been a wonderful mother-in-law! I remember talking to you when Ben and I were engaged and the help and support you gave me. And throughout the past 7 years all the talks we have had. And the fun vacations we have had as a family! I really enjoyed the time in Palmyra with Stuart, Ben, and you. I was able to watch you with them, and the spirit you testify and bring to their lives. You have a wonderful relationship with your sons and they Love and respect you so much. I hope one day my son feels that way about me. I’ve enjoyed talking to you about dinners and nutrition. I have learned a lot from you! I love getting new recipes that you have and trying them. I love new recipes and changing things up. I really had fun with you this past trip to Phoenix. I learned some things about sewing that I didn’t know. And a different way of cutting out patterns, which is much faster, and better J And I really like the memory boxes we made. I’ve been trying to keep up on mine. But, I think it is wonderful, and we will cherish it as our children get older. Thank You for your example and testimony. Love, Crystal

6: spring is in the air | Mom, Though I liked being part of a large family, I love thinking back on the time that I got you all to myself. The many drives to piano lessons, night talks in your room, going out to lunch on my birthdays and our trip to Toronto—these are some of my most treasured memories with you. Making music together has been one of the highlights of my life as well. Performing at the art museum was so fun! I am so grateful for your love for the scriptures and the Lord that you that you strive to live by every day. It was wonderful to have you and Dad with us when Benny was born. I really appreciate you taking such good care of my little family in that first week of learning to be a new Mom. I learned from the best! I love you. -Elizabeth

7: Karen, The day we met I knew we’d get along. I was over at Liz’s and I’d brought stuff to make tomato sandwiches. | You and Stan were on your way home from the temple and decided to stop by, so we sat at the kitchen table and chattedor better said, you teased me while Liz’s roommates laughed. | I don’t recall the topic and I don’t remember the reason, but I do remember realizing in that moment you’d be a good time. You haven’t disappointed. I love your spark and excitement for life. You’re a fun mom and grandma because of it. Thanks for being genuinely you. I love you for it. -Trevor

9: My early childhood favorite memories of Mom. I always loved playing dress up with Moms clothes. She would braid our hair sometimes and let us wear her blue eye shadow and pink blush, which was my favorite! I love that she always shared her testimony with us and not only taught us the importance of reading the scriptures and praying but did it herself everyday. I can remember going in her room in the morning and find her kneeling at her bed side praying or occasionally taking a morning siesta;) As a mother, now Ethan catches me doing that all the time:) I have a long list of memories I love from growing up, but some of my most favorite are those from the present. Going to the Having you at my side the day my Ethan was born, venturing off to the Broadway plays, shopping, sitting in the rocking chairs and chatting on the back patio and watching her play and adore my two precious boys like they were her own. I love you Mom thank you for setting such a wonderful example for me. -Karla

11: I remember when I went through the Temple for the first time. I was really really scared, and didn't know what to expect. When we got to the temple, immediately Mom took charge. It was like Mom was an angel. She was so so sweet and I can't even explain how wonderful she was to me. She made the experience ten times better than I ever could have imagined and I will never forget the way I felt about Mom on that day. -Janae

13: And my favorite memory during high school is when in my freshman or sophomore year, Mom was taking the carpool kids home, and the new Harry Potter movie had just come out and we were talking about how excited we were to see it. Peter Hurlbut was in the van and said “HARRY POTTER IS FROM THE DEVIL, AND ONLY DEVIL WORSHIPERS READ THAT KIND OF WITCH CRAFT”. Mom slammed on the breaks and pulled the car over and told peter Hurlbut to shut his mouth of he could walk home. Peter would not stop saying it was from the devil so Mom kicked peter out of the car, and he walked home.

Mom I thanx you for your testimony too. I love the song How great thou art song too one of my favorites. My zone leader has that song done by Alex Boyle hes the only black guy in the Motab, its sweet with like african style to it. For our zone conference a few weeks back we had to do a musical number and I chose to do that song. Me and too other elders sang it and I could feel the spirit really strong when I was singing. 19: My fondest memories with my mother are our hikes and walks together. I sometimes complain about going on them but I really do enjoy the time we spend together. We hiked together recently at Lake Pleasant and it was great being able to talk about things in my life and have you tell me things that you love or are bothering you; it makes me feel important that you can confide in me. But I always enjoy our walks together and seeing how much you love nature and just being able to talk to you especially at those times -Candice Elise | sunny days

20: Dear Mom, You're so funny and nice. You help me with my problems, you give me advice. Writing a poem is the least I could do Better than giving you ancient bamboo. You give me grapefruits you see And turn it into delicious fruit-tee. You help me with school and guitar, That is why you are the best by far! This is where I say, “Adieu.” Cause Mother's Day is all about you! -Scott

27: Stick to your task till it sticks to you; Beginners are many, but enders are few. Honor, power, place, and praise Will come, in time, to the one who stays. Stick to your task till it stick to you; Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too; For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile Will come life's victories, after awhile. -Anonymous | We Love you!
