He was a tinsmith by trade. In 1881, he married Elizabeth (Bessie) Wilkinson, who was born in Williston, Cheshire, England. She had been an apprentice dressmaker in Ingersoll, Ont., before moving to Foxwarren, Man. where her parents lived. After Edgar and Bessie were married, they lived in Escanaba, Mich. for a few years, then moved to Binscarth, Man., where he did tin-smithing and installed furnaces. From Binscarth they moved to Sintaluta, Sask. where he had a hardware store and tinsmith shop. He also continued to install furnaces there. In about 1906, they sold the store and moved to Winnipeg because of Edgar's failing health. Edgar apparently loved racing his horse drawn buggy against other | outfits when they lived in Sintaluta. There is a family story about how he upset his outfit one Sunday, after which Bessie refused to ride with him, buying her own horse and buggy instead. He had a fine tenor voice, and sang in the choir when they lived in Winnipeg. Bessie was an expert dressmaker and helped to finance the family with this talent. She could also turn her hand to almost anything, apparently even to making stove pipes, if need be. Edgar and Bessie had seven children. Edgar died in 1927 after a long illness. Bessie lived with her son Sam and his wife Lillian until her death in 1948.

George passed away in their home in 1945 at age 50, after a series of small strokes. | Sam served in France and Belgium from 1916 to 1919. George went with him to Buckingham Palace, where he received his Military Cross from King George V. He wrote a book called “Stand to your Horses”, which tells a true story of the Canadian Cavalry in WWI. He worked for Eaton's as a buyer until he retired because of a stroke. He was an invalid for 13 years and died in 1964. | Fred & wife Rhoney lived in Allan, Sask where Fred had a hardware store and tin-smithing shop. | Lois married a doctor and had a busy life as a homemaker. Earl suffered a stroke and was ill for a long time. | After WWI, Harry was a medical missionary in China for 25 years. Following his return to Canada, he worked as a pathologist in Winnipeg.
