FC: Our Family
1: Todd, Lara & Victor
2: Hello, Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to introduce ourselves and to tell you about our family. We are very excited to have this chance to grow our family through adoption. We cannot imagine how difficult this decison must be for you and we admire your courage. We trust that this book expresses who we are, what our lives are like, and what kind of parents we are. We believe that God has a plan for you and your baby. As you read about our family, we hope that you can picture your child fitting in with our family. I don't think it is possible in these short pages to express everything we have to offer as parents and how much love we have to give to a child, but we hope something about us will touch your heart as you consider adoption.
3: We are Todd, Lara, and Victor. We met in college while we were both working on a team helping organize a competition in a science fair for high school students. We were married a little over two years later and have been married for 20 years now. Our marriage grows better every day and Victor has made us an even closer couple and family.

He enjoys being outside and loves to ride his motorcycle and to hang out with his motorcycling friends. He rides with a Christian motorcycle group once a week. He also enjoys cooking, woodworking, and working on the computer. Todd is 5'9", medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes. Todd's heritage is German / English / Irish. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He is a web application developer but quit his job three years ago to become a full-time dad and loves every minute of it. Todd has a heart for serving people, especially children. He has been on several missions trips and the best part is always interacting with and seeing the joy that it brings to the children. This year Todd went on a missions trip to Oklahoma where he helped build two shelters at a home for at-risk youth. | Todd's Childhood: I grew up in a small city in New York. My father worked as a chemist while my mother stayed at home with my two siblings and myself. I have a sister, Barbara, who is two years younger, and a brother, Greg, who was adopted and is five years younger. My mother always did lots of things with us. One year she setup a weekly craft club for us and the neighborhood kids. Another time she helped me setup a carnival in the backyard as a benefit for Muscular Dystrophy. My parents were both Christian and I have been a Christian since I was eight years old. My parents both were very active in the church working in the kids groups or as officers in the church. I was very active with the brigade boys (like boy scouts) at church and loved to do activities and go on camping trips with the brigades. I also loved doing pinewood derby with brigades and working with my dad to make the pinewood derby car. We always did well and won lots of trophies. I always knew I was loved as a child. As a family we did a lot of traveling and camping. My favorite places to travel to were always the big cities to see all the sites, I especially liked visiting the science museums. Family was always very important to us growing up. I can't remember a single Sunday or holiday that we did not go over to my grandparents house where we would spend the day with them and all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We also took many trips to Kentucky where my great-grandparents lived and would visit all the extended family there.

12: Our Home We live in a three bedroom 2 1/2 bathroom, two story home that we built in 2004. It is located on a one acre wooded lot where we have built a play set and sand box. There are lots of young children in the neighborhood and they love to get together for playtime. It is a very quiet neighborhood that is perfect for walks and bike riding.

Lara’s parents and 2 brothers live in Southern Minnesota. The other brother lives in Florida with his wife and two children. We love spending lots of time with family and are visiting relatives on all of our holidays and lots of weekends. We have even made a trip to Florida the past three years to visit with family ( and Mickey ). Victor loves to spend lots of time with all his grandparents and loves playing with the cousins.
15: Everyone is looking foward to another child in the family - especially Grandma.
16: OUR VIEWS ON... Discipline It is our goal to raise a responsible and independent adult. To do this we try to model and teach positive behavior. We try to use lots of praise for good behavior while also disciplining with logical consequences when necessary. Child's Education Todd received his education from public schools while Lara attended a small private Christian school. We plan to send our child(ren) to a Christian preschool and to a public school for K-12. We do have several options for public schools including a charter school specializing in arts and science and an aviation magnet school. We plan on being very involved in their education so we can identify issues early on if changes in school need to be made. We have already created an education savings plan to provide whatever secondary education out child(ren) pursue.
17: Money Management We have been very fortunate in our financial situation and have always been very careful to live within our means. It has been a huge blessing to have the finances to allow Todd to become a full-time dad while still maintaining a very nice lifestyle. Lara's job gives us very good health-care, disability, dental, and life insurance. Openness We are big believers in openness and we think it benefits everyone involved, especially the child. We look forward to meeting the birth parent(s) prior to birth. We are flexible on the level of openness after the birth and would like to maintain contact through visits, calls, letters, and pictures.
18: Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family and considering us to be your child's adoptive parents. We have great admiration for you and the decision you are making. God has a specific plan for you and your baby. We truly love being parents and have a lot to give to another child. We are excited to see what God has planned for us in welcoming another child to our family. Whatever decision you make, you and your child will be in our thoughts and prayers. If you are lead to choose us, we promise to provide a safe home full of love, laughter and encouragement. We will raise a child who understands the love you have for them. You will forever be special to your baby and to us. Thankfully yours, Todd, Lara, and Victor
