One time, ten ducks were swimming in the pond. One two three four five six seven eight nine ten ducks.
It was getting late in the day and the sun was going down. It was time for the ducks to go home.
One by one the ducks started out of the pond. All of the ducks had made their way out except for one. On his way out, that last duck slipped and fell into the mud and muck. Yuck!
Oh boy did he get muddy. He had mud on his head, mud on his neck, mud on his wings, mud on his chest, mud on his back, mud on his legs, mud on his feet, and mud on his toes. He was covered in mud from head to toe.
The other ducks started to laugh and make fun of him. They teased him and said, “You’re a duck with very bad luck, you fell into the mud and muck. Oh my, how unlucky, we should call you Yucky Ducky.” He did not like that one bit. Yucky Ducky got sad. On the walk home he didn’t say a word.
Later that night, when the moon was high in the sky and the stars were shining bright, along came Slippery Fox.
Sneaking sneaking, slowly creeping, while those ten ducks were quietly sleeping... the hungry fox was going to eat those ducks. But just when he was about to jump, Yucky Ducky woke up!
It was dark and Yucky Ducky was covered in mud from head to toe. All Slippery Fox could see were the whites of his eyes. Boy was that a big surprise. Yucky Ducky looked like a monster and it scared Slippery Fox to pieces. He cried out loud. “ H E L P ”!
The other ducks heard the noise and woke up.
They saw Yucky Ducky wide awake and standing up straight while Slippery Fox ran off as fast as he could go!
“What happened?" one duck asked. Yucky Ducky replied, “While we were quietly sleeping, Slippery Fox came up sneaking. Just as he was about to eat us ducks, I woke up. He took one look at me and ran away scared."
“What luck,” said that duck. “Yucky Ducky scared Slippery Fox away. He’s the hero of the day.” All the ducks cheered, “hooray!”
From that day on, Yucky Ducky always kept himself covered from head to toe in mud and muck.
 It brought him good luck.
 The End.
