"The surest way not to fail is to determine to succeed." ~Richard Brinsley Sheridan | This is the story of how chance brought two girls together in college and forged an unbreakable bond
"Nothing but heaven itself is better than a friend who is really a friend. " ~Plautus
It's a nice summer day when we all finally get to move into Herrig 305. It was hectic day with all the freshman moving in plus the thunder storm. Our parents tinised unpacking for us when we had to go to no Zebras. We are both nervous, unsure what to expect, but trying to keep an open mind. You, me, Emily, and Caitlin decide to bond and crowd around our tiny television with our minimal furniture and "Love Actually." It's an okay time, nothing special and only 1am. Caitlin looks out the window and says, "People are still up at this hour?" This sets the tone for the rest of the semester.
Oh-oh! | Goofying Off | Boob Monkeys | Good Times | Oh hey | Magic? | Tin Man Marathon | The previews on the Sci-fi channel looked intriguing, so when I see that there wold be a marathon of Tin Man on Sci-Fi I insist that we watch it. We decide to invite Charlie Williams to join us because it seems like the kind of thing he would also enjoy. After a quick trip to the market to pick up snacks, we settle down for the 6 hour marathon. We laugh at the show mostly rather than with it but we're having a good time and play with photobooth during commercials.
April 21, 2008 | I walk back to the dorms after a long day of classes, contemplating what to do for my 19th birthday and am greeted by a sign on the door telling me to go to my laptop. I smile and eagerly do as the sign says and discover that you have set up a scavenger hunt for my birthday presents. Excitedly I whirl about the room in a flurry, following each pink posted note gathering presents along the way: Death at A Funeral, Bend it Like Beckham, and a new red leather journal.
We're just sitting in the room, taking advantage of being lazy one October afternoon. There's nothing really going on at CMU, nothing fun like a Doug Benson or Rob Paravorian show, so we're just sitting in our PJs watching another marathon of America's Next Top Model. Caitlin is supposed to have moved out already, but hasn't yet. I look over at you during commercial and say, "Do you just want to start re-arranging the room? She supposed to have moved out by now." You shrug in response and smile, "Sure. Why not?"
 Sophomore Year
I pop my head into our room and say, "Hey, you want to come play apples to apples with us? James is determined to meet people on our floor." You agree happily, and we head over to Herrig 304 to play a ridiculous game of apples to apples with Kristi, Jack, James, and Sarah. It's a nice night of laughs and casual socializing. | "Should we invite Marla?" You ask as we go down the back stairs on our way out to see a movie. "Um, this may be mean, but do we have to? You and I haven't hung out in a while?" I say sheepishly. "Yea, you're right." We smile and head out to Italian oven and have a nice meal
"I think I want to rush Sigma Alpha Iota" you tell me one day while before we start watching Battle Star Galatica. "Really? That's awesome! I am so excited!"
"Sisters are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." | "Daughters of a great and singing nation. Let your voices rise in dedication."
"So near so dear, to SAI, nearer and dearer as days go by.
CLACK! | CLACK! | CLACK! | CLACK! | At 7am on a chilly January morning, 42 music majors board a bus to go see The Chicago Lyric's production of Tristan and Isolde. After a 5 hour bus drive, you and I are resting comfortably in the seats waiting to hear this important musical work and the awe-inspiring voice of Deborah Voigt. Unfortunately for us, we spend most of the performance of this pivotal opera fighting the urge to not fall asleep. Between dozes, I notice the few staging effects like how the scrim made the boat seem to move toward the audienece, and the hideous colored costumes. I am | starting to doze off again when I suddenly hear | The tic-tacs you were eating to keep you awake have fallen onto the floor at the most quiet part of the opera yet. You flush as Audrey Dillion looks around for the source of the noise and I try to stifle a laugh. You sheepishly try to sink down into your seat a little and we attempt to fight our way to stay conscious through the next two acts.

April 21,2010 Finally, 21! I am so fortunate to have friends that love me enough to take me out to a nice quiet bar to have my first legal drink. We met my parents for dinner at the cabin. My dad bought 4 pitchers of beer even though only 4 of us in attendance could legal drink. That night, I hadn't planned on going out, but we got invited to Tom' and Alex's to drink and celebrate my birthday . All in all a great day.
