S: On My Honor
FC: On My Honor By: Marion Dane Bauer Created by: Michael Bowen
1: Summary | Joel and Tony were best friends, but Joel always wanted to do the safest things he could, while Tony liked to live on the edge and was always doing something dangerous...Joel usually came with him.
2: Today Tony wanted to climb the starved rock bluffs. Joel disagreed. He didn't want to make Tony think he was chicken so he came up with a plan.He would ask his dad if he could go knowing his dad would say no. Then he would tell Tony that his dad said he couldn't go. So Joel asks his dad and he says that he can go. He goes to Tony and says "Let's go!"
3: On the way to the bluffs, they ride up to the Vermilion River in Louisiana and Tony says he's going swimming so, like always, Joel goes with him. Tony isn't a good swimmer so when he starts swimming he gets pulled under and drowns. Joel frantically searches for him but it is already too late. He goes back home but he can't live with the guilt.
4: The cops come and Joel tells them everything. Joel's dad came in and sat with him until he fell asleep.
6: Main Character | He physically changed because he got stronger by swimming in the river. He emotionally changed because his best friend died. | Joel is 12 years old. | He has brown hair. His favorite sport is Soccer. | He has brown eyes. | He loves to ride his bike.
7: Favorite Scene | My favorite scene is when Joel and Tony go down to the river and Tony dies. It is my favorite because it has the most action and the most emotion. It is important because it sets the tone for the book and if it didn't happen nobody would be sad which is what makes the book so good.
8: If I was in the book... | I would have convinced Tony not to go down to the river and if that didn't work I would wait on the shore. If he started to drown Joel and I would search for him and we would find him before he died. If we couldn't I would tell Tony's parents right away. Tony and Joel would be best friends with me so I would be really sad that Tony died. The problems would be solved faster because I would tell everyone right away.
