FC: Austin, TX August 6 to August 11, 2011
1: Ashley, Jill, Ditty, and I flew down to Austin, Texas in the dead of summer 2011 to visit Severs. There, we toured the city, went out on 6th Street, explored San Antonio, and experienced a true Texas BBQ. Despite 100+ degree temps, it was one of the most fun trips I've ever been on!
2: We flew in on a Saturday afternoon. After unpacking and getting ready, we ventured out for Mexican food and our first night on the town: 6th Street, downtown Austin. :)
4: On Sunday, we decided to venture to Barton Springs Pool, which was near Severs' place. The springs makes the water consistently at 65 degrees - perfect! We spent most of the day there before heading to the city to walk along the river.
9: A walk along the river in Austin. Excellent photo ops and good times!
15: All in all, we had a great day. So, we decided to head back to get ready for dinner at "The Oasis". Looking forward to views of Lake Travis!
18: On Monday, Ditty, Ash, Jill, and I drove to San Antonio for the Alamo, lunch at Dick's Last Resort, shopping, and the River Walk!
22: After San Antonio, the 5 of us drove down the the Congress Avenue Bridge to check out the nightly bats that come out from under the bridge to prey on mosquitoes! The view was amazing. After that, we stopped at the Ranch for drinks on the rooftop.
27: On Tuesday, we bummed around Austin. We visited the University of Texas campus first, had lunch with my aunt, toured the capitol building, and ended the day shopping along South Congress Ave.
33: Tuesday night, the 5 of us went out on 6th Street for the last time. Since our cabs didn't show up, a Texan named Jimmy drove us in his pick up truck. Can't get any more Texas than that! The night turned out to be a crazy one starting with a power hour at Eric's and ending with swimming in Eric's pool after 3am! :)
37: Wednesday, we recooperated by laying by the pool and chilling in Eric's AC apartment. Wednesday night, our last night, the five of us packed our to-go beers and went to "The Salt Lick". The restaurant serves authentic Texas BBQ - big servings and finger-licking good! We could barely walk to the care we were so full! A great way to end an amazing trip to the south!!
