Someday by Mrs. Galbreath Original Story by: Charlotte Zolotow
Someday I will be the top math student in my school. No longer will I feel as though my brains are going to explode inside my skull when I attempt to figure out a math problem. My peers will come to me with their most difficult and troubling math questions, and I will answer them with ease. I will not have to tell my son to ask his father for help on his 3rd grade SAGE math...pathetic!
Someday I will have a self-cleaning toilet. My children and husband will pee all over the bathroom, as they do now, but my self cleaning toilet will take care of the spills. A robotic hand with bleach and anti-bacterial cleaner will sense any urine spills and automatically clean those areas daily. As a result, I will not have to plug in scent diffusers and light candles to mask the smell of little boy pee in my house.
Someday I will fully understand the sport of football and maybe even be able to play it. When the ball is hiked, I will actually be able to follow the ball from the hike all the way to the end of the play, instead of losing sight of the ball and giving up completely. With this new knowledge, I will know all of the penalties that are called in a football game. Oh, one more thing, I will know the difference between flag football rules, little league rules, college rules, and NFL rules.
Someday I will give everyone a hug. We have a lot of problems in this world and sometimes a good ole’ fashion hug is all people need. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not going to just go up to random crazy people and hug them, but maybe I will hire someone who will. It is said that everyone needs at least 10 hugs a day. Have you gotten your 10 today?
Someday I will have my grandma back. My grandmother passed away last year, and I miss her lots. She will be back to her old, crazy self rolling around in her high-powered scooter like the maniac that she is. I will be able to sit back and enjoy some of her long, drawn-out, but funny stories and spend my holidays with her warmth and kindness filling the room.
Someday I will have a beach house in Hawaii and an endless amount of air miles to fly there for free. Several times a year I would fly my family and friends out to my beach house where we would spend hours relaxing, playing games, snorkeling, and sight-seeing. My beach house will sit right at the edge of the crystal-blue waters of Turtle Bay in Maui.
Someday I will have lots of dogs and sea turtles as pets. Sounds pretty random, I know, but let me explain. My house in Hawaii will have several sea turtles that live right off the shore, so I can swim out and see them whenever I want. Back at home, I will have oodles of land for dogs upon dogs to roam free and frolic. The dogs will be rescued from owners who treat them bad and the turtles will be safe from fisherman and predators.
Someday I will be the owner of a delightful little sandwich shop called Into the Mystic. At my restaurant, you will be able to enjoy fresh brewed iced tea, hand-made healthy sandwiches, and the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. Here you can relax with friends and kick back while you listen to the uplifting sounds of reggae and enjoy scents of the tropics. Oh ya, I will also have my mom’s amazing pottery for sale as well as jewelry created by yours truly.
Someday I will have a classroom full of students who have the desire to give 150% everyday. These students will put forth stellar effort on every assignment and will never whine or complain because they see the value of every lesson and assignment they do in school. There will be no behavior problems and no annoying questions. My students will use the smooshy thing inside their skull, called their brain, to figure out the answers to questions they have the ability to figure out!
Someday I will have a girl’s day every weekend. It’s not that I don’t love my kids and my husband, but man, I miss going to chick flicks and out to lunch. So, I would settle for twice a month even. My friends and I would meet up for a yummy lunch then head over to check out the latest chick flick. Of course, we would finish the day off with gossip over iced tea and ice cream or cookies.
But now...I have to get my kids to track practice, then rush home and figure out something for dinner...feed the dog...make sure Yertle hasn't escaped...get some laundry done...grade some papers...check my email...get ready for the next day of school...and get some sleep!
