As a child I could always count on my mother to be there whenever I had an issue that needed to be resolved. Through her natural parenting style she taught me how to work through those issues on my own. This led me to an adult life where I was well equipped to be a patient husband and parent. These same skills worked well in problem solving which I used on a daily basis throughout a successful military career and to a variety of occupations once I finished military service.
Mom, you were a primary influence in my life where education is concerned. You always stressed going to school and to have realistic goals. This approach worked well throughout high school and into college. You were supportive when I retired from the Army and moved back to the area, silently supporting me as I worked to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Meridian’s Campus of Mississippi State University. Always knowing that you were there gave me the confidence I needed to balance family life, school life and work life in the way required to succeed in all ventures.
Mom, as I moved into transition a few years ago your support became even more important and evident to me since I was no longer being influenced by other family members. I watch my children get closer to you in a way that warmed my heart and I saw you treat them as the traditional grandmother always does. It was fun to use this time to form a solid relationship for the future. All of my kids have admitted that their relationship has been improved and they all enjoy their time with Mamaw. Over the past 5 years you have watched my family get older and all become adults and have supported them in the same ways you support me. This has endeared you to me in so many ways.
As we approach Mother’s day and your birthday I wanted you to know several things. First we all love you very much and are proud to be your children. Second we appreciate the sacrifices you made when we were young to give us things we needed. Third we want you to know we appreciate the support you’ve always shown all of us. Lastly we want you to always remember that you have a permanent invitation to just show up, wherever we are. We will always have room in our houses for you. Mom, I love you. 42: Mama, There is no way I could ever express in a letter just how much you mean to me and how very much I admire you. Growing up under your guidance and direction molded me in becoming the secure and content women I am today. The many words of wisdom and advice you shared through the years continue to carry me through my adult life . Many of those words, such as "Never say anything about someone if you can't say something good" and "Never be anywhere or do anything you wouldn't be caught doing if God came back today", are words I've shared with my own children through the years.. You have always been the prime example of a good Christian women and mother. Even when I disappointed you the most, and I know there has been several, your love never faltered. I have always admired the way you let me know when you disapproved of my actions but yet it is seemed
during those times your love was at its strongest. I thank God for allowing me to have a Mom like you.........who really knows and shows what it means to love unconditional. Today, it is such a blessing to witness the love and admiration you and Mack share. I honestly believe God brought him into our lives for all of us children to see what a God Blessed Marriage is. Thank you for all you've done for me my whole life and the many sacrifices you made, they never went unnoticed. Happy Mother's Day I Love You with All My Heart! Jena
Mother, I know I've told you this before but my childhood memories are the best ever. The laughter, the smiles, the playful times you insisted on creating every where we went. I don't know how you did it but will always reflect back to fun times. Lincoln Park Inn, sneaking into the Drive Inn, playing Kick the can and the list goes on and on. It couldn't have been easy. Somehow you did it and continued to do it even with all the grandchildren. I will have to say that at the age of 47 I'm most thankful for the love you have for God and how you introduced him to me as well. Teaching us God's promises in life is what helped us get through our lives. As an adult I know one promise that I learned early was how to lay down my burdens, Matthew 11:28.
You have always been there for me and I know you always will be. I know we live miles apart now but the miles don't really matter because you gave me what I need to live my life. I'm so thankful for Mack. I know he make you happy and I couldn't have hand picked a better stepfather. The word stepfather doesn't even seem right to say. I feel as if he has been a part of our lives forever and the memories I have of him (sitting on the porch learning about the many stomachs a cow has) I honestly thought he was kidding me. I look forward to the many many more memories that I know are just right around the corner. I love you so much and wish you the best Mothers Day Ever! Jill

I often contemplate my childhood, Mom. I am a parent now, and so I know Hard work is mixed together with the fun; You learned that when you raised me long ago. I think of all the things you gave to me: Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears, Your heart, your mind, your energy and soul-- All these you spend on me throughout the years.. You loved me with a never-failing love You gave me strength and sweet security, And then you did the hardest thing of all: You let me separate and set me free. Every day, I try my best to be A parent like the mom you were to me
