2: The 540K's were beautiful, elegant, and exclusive models often outfitted with voluptuous coachwork and sold to wealthy clientele.
4: I started building models as a young boy, model planes to start then on to aircraft carriers and ships. As I got older more detailed models of sailing ships with rigging and sails.
5: How I got into the large very detailed antique cars was Betty. She collects model cars from the Franklin and Danbury Mint. She also has made small metal models. I bought the first large model in 1989 for her to build and she said no way to complicated. So I built it for her. Since then I have completed three more and the Mercedes 540k is number four. It takes an average of 300 hours to build paint and detail. The most challenging was the wire wheels on the Rolls Royce. The cases are custom made of different exotic woods by myself. The plastic dust covers are made by TAP plastic to fit the wood base. This book was made for me by my friends Deneen and Peter of pdsfotoart to show the process of construction and intricate details not seen by just looking at the completed model. I hope you enjoy the model I built for Betty's collection. I enjoy building them. Skip
