HeykdfjkdsfjkdasfjadslfhiH | I would like to dedicate this book of poetry and other strange concoctions to my students who continue to inspire me every day. I hope this sample book will give you some ideas for what you can include in your own creation. | About the Author Ms. Roberts lives in Glen Ellen, California with her husband and son Jakob, 19. She also has a daughter, Nathalie, who is 22 and currently lives in Los Angeles. Ms. Roberts teaches technology classes and is the Yearbook adviser at Altimira Middle School in Sonoma where she has taught for the last 17 years. She loves the creative side of technology; spending time with her family; reading and gardening; and, she especially loves to exercise whenever she gets the chance!
If I Were... If I were a time of day, I would be dusk, Ready to relax into the night. If I were a color, I would be the sky just after a rain, Peeking through the clouds that melt away. If I were a book, I would be a mystery, Not easy to figure out, but possible if you try. If I were a country, I would be Russia, Filled with many different states. If I were an animal, I would be a house cat, Well taken care of, but still independent. If I were a spice, I would be curry, A blend of many different flavors.
The Garden When I think of my garden, I think of a breeze. When I think of a breeze, I think of the wind When I think of the wind, I think of the ocean When I think of the ocean, I think of blue When I think of blue, I think of the sky When I think of the sky, I think of forever. Forever, like me and you.
The Forest and the Meadow | The forest is like winter, Dark, mysterious chambers. While the meadow is like summer, Absent-minded and lazy. The forest is like a bear, Such strength and fierceness. But the meadow is like a butterfly, Calm, quiet, and very beautiful. The forest is like Halloween, Dark, scary creatures lurk behind trees. While the meadow is like Easter, Bright, colorful, and full of spring.
Rumor | I am rumor, A buffet of lies; my appetizers are jealousy and hatred; I drink the blood of my victims; I live through you; my dessert is a ruined reputation, and my leftovers, Just get thrown away.
Laughter | This is an example of a concept spread...not exactly a poem.
EXCITEMENT | Excitement is gleaming gold It tastes like cotton candy It sounds like a babbling brook It smells like popping firecrackers It looks like a bright fire's glow Excitement feels like the theatre lights dimming...
Alone | Alone is when your friends ditch you Alone is when your coach makes you sit out Alone is when your own mother thinks you are annoying Alone is when you go to a new school Alone is a feeling nobody should have -(former student)
I Seem To Be... | I Seem To Be...
I Seem To Be... | I seem to be a flower petal, But really I am a steel nail. I seem to be a butterfly, But really I am the caterpillar I seem to be a leaf floating in the wind But really I am the tree. -(former student)
f | My House | This is the house where I live. This is where... I raised my children and watched them grow up. This is where... I cook our meals, Garden when time allows. This is where... I prepare lessons and projects, Spend time with my husband. And you can hear hummingbirds outside the kitchen window, And you can see a well-loved and comfortable home, And feel the warmth of those inside.
