BC: In your fourth year... | A V E R Y I S S I X | Happy 6th Birthday to our brave little lover of life! We are so proud of all that you have accomplished this year and of the little girl you have become. Six years have gone by in the blink of an eye, and we cannot wait to see what is in store for you next. We love you so much, Avery Kate!

FC: t h e t h y e a r | Avery Kate | 6

1: Oldest | What a big year 2013 has been for you -graduating preschool, losing your first tooth, starting Kindergarten, learning to read, getting your ears pierced, and doubling your big sister duties. You've handled all this change with such grace, and we could not be more proud of you. You have blossomed this year into an independent thinker, your genuine love of life continues to amaze and inspire us, and you are the bravest five year old we know. You will always and forever be our first baby, and for that, your place in our hearts is special. You made us parents - our most favorite and important role in life. With you, each phase is a new adventure, and we couldn't ask for a better, more happy-go-lucky kid, to figure things out with. You have brought us so much joy over the last six years. You are our light, and we love you more than you will ever know. You're our best girl. All our love, | to our | Mommy and Daddy

4: Happy Birthday to our American Girl | This was the year that your love of American Girl dolls began. You were so happy to open your very first doll, McKenna, at home, first thing on your birthday. After some playtime that morning and a full day of pre-school (you insisted on going despite me offering to let you stay home), we headed to the American Girl store to celebrate, shop, and have dinner. You were a little overwhelmed at first, but by the end of the evening, you were walking around like you owned the place. It was a wonderful birthday.

7: This trip actually happened a couple of weeks before your birthday, but it didn't make it in to last year's book, and it was just too good to leave out, so here we are. We spent the whole week after Thanksgiving at Disney World, and we had a ball exploring all four parks, watching parades, riding "big girl" rides, meeting characters, and taking in all of the Disney Christmas decorations. The trip itself was a big surprise, but meeting up with Addison once we got there was an even bigger one! You had an awesome week with your family and very best friend. It was a great vacation!

Quite literally as soon as the turkey has been eaten and our thanks have been given, we are ready to put up our tree, don our red and green pajamas, and cue up the Christmas music and movies. You have claimed the role of "star putter on'er" the last few years, and it is not a | role that I see you giving up to your brothers anytime soon. You make our holidays so very special, and we are so lucky that we get to share them with you.

25: Shortly after Christmas, Kyle & Christie's wedding weekend finally arrived! And with limo rides, fancy dresses, and hair and make-up, you were thrilled with your role as flower girl & had a great time all weekend long hanging out with the "big girls" & being surrounded by family. It was no surprise that when your big moment came, you did great, & you helped Brady do great, too. By the reception, you were so worn out that you fell asleep in my arms about halfway through - something you haven't done since you were an infant!

26: South Carolina | an unexpected trip to | Grandma got sick shortly after Christmas, and sadly passed away in early January of this year. Despite the very sad reason for our visit to South Carolina, it was a good visit nonetheless.. You got to meet and play with and get to know cousins and family and friends that feel like family more than ever before. You and Brady helped Papaw and Daddy both very much through a very sad time. Grandma will be missed, but her memory will not be forgotten!

39: One night over spring break, while Daddy was out of town and Jessi was over to keep Brady entertained, you and I slipped out for a bit and headed to the "forest." It is a place you had been begging and begging for me to take you. You twirled, leaped, balanced and explored to your heart's content, and when you grew tired of doing those things, we found a grassy spot near the lake to sit for a bit and enjoy each other's company. We looked for animals in the clouds, debated whether or not alligators lived in the lake, and you tickled and jumped on me more times than I cared to count. With you and Brady on basically the same school and activity schedule and Daddy traveling so much this spring, one on one time doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it is oh so special. And this hour away from all other distractions was oh so very special to me. I love you so much, sweet girl. | m a r c h 2 0 1 3

41: One night over Spring Break, your best friend, Addison, came over for a sleepover. You girls had so much fun playing in the backyard, making brownies, pretending to be fairies, taking a bubble bath, watching movies, and eventually falling asleep together in your trundle bed for the night. The next morning, we headed straight for the donut shop where pink sprinkled donuts and a little extra best friend time helped to start your day off with a smile! | m a r c h 2 0 1 3

42: I love you more. | Dear Avery, There are no adequate words to describe how much I love you, my sweet girl. You are my whole world. You are a part of my heart beating outside my body. You make me happier than I ever knew possible, and you inspire and amaze me every single day. Your kindness and innocence and genuine love of life overwhelm me. I love you so very much. I always wanted a little girl, and I feel so lucky and blessed that God picked me to be your mama. I love you to the moon and back (times a million), and I'll love you forever and always. You're my best girl, my favorite girl in the whole wide world. Love, Mommy

57: When we moved to Katy four years ago, one of the best decisions we made was enrolling you at Grace Pre-School. You have loved your school from the very early days in the toddler class all the way through to graduation day. You have been loved on and taught by some wonderful teachers, and you have made and cultivated some amazing friendships all on your own. It makes us so happy and proud to see you shine just as brightly at school as you do at home with us. Next year will be hard on Mommy because I will miss having home with me during the day, but there is no doubt in my mind that you are ready for Kindergarten and that you will shine there too! | Last Day of Pre-School | NEXT STOP: Kindergarten! | may 15, 2013

60: Great Wolf Lodge | Grapevine, Texas | may 2013 | Daddy had to travel this year over Memorial Day weekend, so we took a quick trip to the Dallas area to visit Great Wolf Lodge just ahead of the holiday weekend. You had so much fun playing in the indoor waterpark for three straight days. When you weren't in the water, you were busy dragging us all around the hotel playing Magic Quest. It was a fun weekend!

61: Memorial Day | weekend | With Daddy out of town, we were on our own for Memorial Day weekend this year. Thankfully, we have some amazing friends who included us in their celebrations. Highlights of the weekend were brunch, lots of pool time, the first watermelon of the season, and crawfish races. Our summer has officially begun!

You had so much fun hanging out with your friends while we waited for the fireworks to begin. You played Go Fish, tag, and hide and seek. You popped poppers and lit sparklers. You shared the star cookies that we made together the day before with everyone. And once it finally got dark, the fireworks display did not disappoint. Happy Birthday America!

Though you tried lots of flavors over the course of the summer, "Rainbow" was easily your favorite. You said it was special because it wasn't on the menu.

73: SWIMMING | What a little fish you were this summer. You were totally self sufficient in the water and spent much of the summer perfecting your freestyle crawl, working on your back stroke, learning to dive, and generally having fun in the water. This summer was extra exciting at our neighborhood pools because you were finally tall enough (with really good posture and while wearing your flip flops) to go down the water slides. | ...and

79: LOSING YOUR FIRST TOOTH For months leading up to this big day, you were obsessed with losing a tooth, so you can imagine your excitement when one day you discovered that not only did one of your bottom two teeth have some legitimate wiggle, but that an adult tooth had broken through the surface of the gums behind it as well. For days, we wiggled. You wiggled. We fed you apples, carrots, corn dogs, and anything else we could think of to make you bite with your front teeth. Finally, one day, after spending much of the day grossing us all out by pushing your tooth into the completely horizontal position with your tongue, the time finally came! Though Mommy and Daddy had made multiple attempts throughout the day to pull it, it was on Christie and Jessi's watch that your first tooth finally came out. You were so excited with your new grin! Mommy and Daddy made it home in time to help you get it tucked away under your pillow for the tooth fairy. The next morning, you were up early and very excited to show us all the money that the tooth fairy had brought you!

80: K & 1st Grade Girls Rockets | The end of dance brought the opportunity to add a new activity this summer, and you chose gymnastics without hesitation. You were thrilled to be away from the pre-school kids (and also away from the boys) by being placed in the Kindergarten & 1st Grade Girls Rockets class. While you liked just about everything about your class, you especially loved working on hand stands and spending time on the balance beam this summer. 88: Getting Ready for Kindergarten | Meet the Teacher Night

89: The Night Before | The Morning Of | An evening full of fun meeting your teacher and exploring your new school and classroom with your friends left you feeling very excited about your first day of Kindergarten. The night before your first day of school was full of excitement and anticipation...the good kind of anticipation. You most looked forward to riding the bus and buying your lunch. Though your teacher gave you some magic confetti to help you get to sleep that night, it didn't seem to work very well. You were just too excited, and it took you quite some time to settle down. | You insisted that we set your alarm clock for the first day of school. It going off while it was still dark outside was a bit of a shock for you that first morning, and you were slow to get moving. After a few snuggles on the couch, you finally woke up enough to eat breakfast. Before long, it was time to brush your teeth, get dressed, take pictures, and be on our way. You really wanted to ride the bus to school that first morning, but Mommy and Daddy didn't want to miss out on such a big day for you, so we made you ride with us instead.

90: your first day of | Kindergarten | Tom Wilson Elementary Teacher: Mrs. Munford | august 26, 2013

91: Your first day of Kindergarten could not have gone any better! You were happy to meet up with Addison outside the school, and you two marched through the front door hand-in-hand like you owned the place. Once in your classroom, you found where to put you lunchbox, gave your teacher a quick hug, and quickly got settled at your table. You were anxious for us to leave so that you could start coloring. There were no tears, no hesitation, and no worries on your part. You were ready. You knew it, and we knew it. And so we quickly stole one last kiss and one last hug and made our exit. The hours that day crept by as we waited until it was time to pick you up at the bus stop (which you insisted on riding home that first day). And what a first bus stop experience that was. Pouring down rain, a later than expected bus, and a forgotten lunchbox. None of that mattered though because you climbed off with a smile on your face. You had a great first day!
