2: Ubud Ubud is a city in the central part of the island. It is considered the cultural heart of Bali and is home to museums and artists. A busy market street dominates the centre of the city but within minutes you can walk through the rice fields in the surrounding countryside. We were hosted at the Artini Cottages 2 which was a garden paradise hidden in a small valley off the main street. Gardens, pools , sculptures, Bali architecture and banana pancakes for breakfast were part of the experience.
4: Ubud countryside | Several pathways from town provided great hikes through the rice fields and a chance to meet locals along the way. We met a local artist where we purchased two paintings for our home.
