FC: The Hazlewood Family 2010 - 2011 | The Year of Our Son Sutton Bradley October 29, 2011 | H

Hazlewood Happenings After the our wedding festivities, we celebrated as usual throughout the year: birthdays, Annual Chili Cook-offs, holidays, and our first wedding anniversary. However, our first year of marriage had a few extra surprises. We first got started on the renovation of our house in the summer of 2010. We chose a contractor and invested our blood, sweat, tears, money, and TIME designing and making our home perfect. Our renovation was scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010. Just before Thanksgiving, Brian suggested we go to dinner. We sat down at Grand Luxe Restaurant and I sensed he had something to tell me. Brian was offered a well deserved promotion within his company, David Joseph Joseph; however, the General Manager position was in Orlando , Florida. I was so proud of Brian and his accomplishments, but handled the news with tears. Brian was more than loving and understanding of my emotions. After a day or two of talking through and contemplating, we decided to keep our newly renovated home in Houston and move to Florida. Prior to our departure, we celebrated with friends at a crawfish boil. The morning of the crawfish boil, God announced the best gift of all with two lines on our home pregnancy test. We were pregnant!

Where and when I took the home pregnancy test: We took a home pregnancy test as soon as we woke up on Saturday, March 12th. First reaction when we realized we were pregnant: We were very excited, but attempted to keep things in perspective until we confirmed with our doctor and heard your heart beat. Who we told first: We shared the news with our parents first. We called each on Wednesday, March 16th evening. Our first prenatal visit: We confirmed our pregnancy with our Houston OBGYN, Dr. McBride on Friday, March 24th. We went back to Dr. McBride on Tuesday, March 29th to heave our very first ultra sound. Within seconds of searching for you, you popped up on screen. You were only a blob then with a little flicker of light. The flicker of light was your heart beat - 165 bpm. | Our 1st Trimester

Our due date: My last period was February 12th; therefore, your due date was calculated to be November 19th. Finding a new OBGYN: We officially moved to Florida on March 31st. I researched OBGYN practices and ultimately chose Loch Haven Obstetrics. More ultrasounds: Since we had just moved, Loch Haven did another ultra sound at 10 weeks. You had grown so much in such a short period of time. We had another ultra sound at 13 weeks with a fetal specialist. We saw the specialist every 4-6 weeks to make sure you were developing properly given my hypothyroidism. Thankfully, you were always perfect and right on schedule. Pregnancy symptoms: I was very lucky with you. I had absolutely no morning sickness or any pregnancy symptoms a lot of women have to deal with. I got emotional a couple of times, but nothing too dramatic.

When I first started to show: I actually started to show quite early. Around 8 weeks, I already had a pooch. Mommy's feelings about getting big: I was very excited to be pregnant, but nervous about how my body would change and handle pregnancy. I really wanted to be all belly. I was most scared my butt would widen and never return to its original size. People say I am carrying: Since we had just moved to Florida, family and friends only saw me via pictures. However, everyone, including us, thought I was carrying very low. People think we are having a: It was a 60/40 split. Many thought we were having a boy, but some had hopes for a baby girl. We thought you were: Daddy never said he thought you were one or the other; however, I truly felt you were a boy for most of the pregnancy. | Our 2nd Trimester

I first felt you: Wednesday, June 1st! I was 15 1/2 weeks pregnant and felt this strange muscular twist on the lower right side of my abdomen. I was unsure if it was you since I was so early. However, you started turning consistently that weekend and I knew indeed it was you. Daddy first felt you: Daddy held his hands on my tummy and started feeling you move on June 18th. You were just in time for Father's Day! You move around the most: SBetween weeks 16 and 20, you moved and kicked mostly in the evenings while we were sitting on the couch watching TV; however, as week 21 hit, you were kicking, twisting, rolling throughout the day. I saw my stomach move for the first time on July 13th. When did we find out the sex: I I made a special card for the reveal of your gender. Inside it had our girl and boy name. We went to the fetal specialist on Friday, June 24th and asked the ultra sound technician to circle the name if she could tell the sex. She was 100% certain, so Daddy and I went to dinner at Bone Fish and opened the card to find out if we were having our Sutton or our Reese. Daddy opened the card, smiled and showed me we were having our Sutton! How much weight did I gain? Between weeks 14 and 27, I gained XX pounds, which brings my total weight gain for Sutton's pregnancy to XX pounds.

Childbirth classes: We took 7 classes to prepare for you, which included: childbirth, breastfeeding, infant and child CPR, epidural, and how to sooth a fussy baby. First time a stranger asked when I was due: When I was about 14 weeks pregnant, my hairdresser looked at me and knew I was pregnant. I was SO excited. However, in mid-July, we were standing in a jewelry store and absolute stranger walked up and asked when we were due. I was about 5 1/2 months by this time and starting to look very pregnant. I was happy that people could look at me and know. Who we told first: We shared the news with our parents first. We called each on Wednesday, March 16th evening. 65: In Retrospect The last four years have been an absolute whirlwind. God granted us so many blessings since July 28th, 2007. HE first brought us together, then blessed us with love, a beautiful engagement, and a perfect fairy tale wedding. Our luck continued, but the biggest blessing of all was the birth of our son, Sutton Bradley. Sutton, you should always know that you were brought into this world on purpose and with so much love. Our marriage was a solid foundation of love, passion, honesty, and fidelity. We love you with all of our hearts and will always be grateful to God for sending you to us. 2010 and 2011 chapters are closed, but we look forward to growing our family in the years to come.
